a place for you
on: July 13, 2019, 18:52:36
I wrote this about 5 years ago
I meant here to give some words of support to folks
in a desperate situation.

I remember being pleased with it at the time of recording

Feedback would be welcome

Lyrics:

        a place for you

See it through for what it is
Don't let sentiment be anything but new
           Events fall hand over fist
From mountains of distance with no point of view
Between talking about and having done
There will be a place for you

If the future should come to pass
Y'know, most likely, well I'll be long, long gone
            Live suddenly then follow
Though better sense might say stay at home
When certainty becomes all but the rule
There will be a place for you

   When you've been pushed
                  so overdrawn, exposed
       You would thank the stars
for a place of your own

How with the salt in your eyes
Will you see me when all of the clouds are gone
'May take the white noise of lies
To recover your poise n' your passion
When certainty becomes all but the rule
And inaction would be the way of a fool
Between making a fuss and pressing on
There will be a place for you

Events fall hand over fist....
Beautiful.
'One the other hand there's a fist', and I am almost sure I didn't invent that one. So it's 1-0 for you.
Nice one this one.
Kind regards, Gus

@Rightly - sounding good. Likig the line " If the future should come to pass"
is this recording recent? Or are you planning to rerecord it? Some of the syllables might be a bit more extended in the beat... difficult to explain in words.

Good lyrics... really good groove.

Add bass and drums and this would Rock!  😎

Five years ago.........you are true to your style. I respect that greatly.

Add bass and drums and this would Rock!  😎

While that is definitely true, for me it would take away from the authenticity of your intimate production and recording style, particularly on this tune..
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

Maybe rerecord
If I find the time

Yes, if the future...
Fell out effortlessly, not always the case
This was one of those personal songs, not intended for exhibition or performance.
Time gave me distance

I know what you mean
I didn't know any better then, but I also liked a more staccato delivery.
I'd do it differently now

A great lyric describing being of the see-saw of what we call life, caught between choices ....

action and inaction,

complaining about your situation and getting on with things,

being abandoned and feeling part of it all.

Nice job Rightly.

Your lyrics give me sort of a Monet painting feel, just sort of drawing a blurred impression picture out of focus and letting the imagination fill the gaps.

I like the live feeling of this @Rightly, it does give it a very intimate feel as suggested by @Leonard Scaper.

It has a 60s/70s feel to it for me - not sure why.

I do like it as it is, stripped back with just vocals and a guitar but it would certainly also sound good with drums and bass.

cheers
