Almost-a-baby
on: November 30, 2018, 13:08:26

I wrote this some time ago.
I was playing more acoustic guitar those days and want to get back to playing it.
there are loads of songs I'd like to record this way.

Feedback very welcome!!

so, who is not dishonest,
    right from the word go?
who put the I before promise?
it was you because I said so... from the word go
when I was nearly a child
 you were almost a baby
it is not time that decides
you don't get to play me... almost a baby
                                              almost a baby

          now as the world divides
and it's all forks and knives
now I live a thousand lives
All of them tainted, I'm tainted

standing tall in my shade
 you were almost a baby
ne'er had call to be afraid
Well, not until lately... almost a baby
when I was nearly a child
 a'playin' knock-a-door-run
          s'bold, gentle and wild
Now where has that boy gone?... knock-a-door-run
                                                        knock-a-door-run

          we are now civilised
       I'm the creative one
              devising alibis
and I am going, I'm gone, I'm wasted

when I was nearly a child
 you were almost a baby

Man....I just love the intimacy of this recording. This acoustic guitar approach really works for you.

Your lyrics always demand close scrutiny and this one is no exception.

I look forward to your stuff.

Thanks Leonard.
Lol. The few folks who know me are split between me doing midi n doing guitar, some are louder with their opinion than others.
I actually want to improve my skills in Cubase and in the foreseeable future I'll continue to concentrate on that mostly. .
Still I really want to improve my guitar skills. I wish I had more money to pay for lessons.

@Rightly  this is the kind of music they should bring back coffee houses for, I like the recorded sound of your guitar especially.

@Rightly I don`t know enough about the Krays to get which brother is singing, but the subject is sinister and original material . The solo guitar fits well- its all about where  the listener goes with the lyrics.
Yes, its a cool cafe performance...I wonder how you`d introduce a song like this?

Robert

Thanks robert
I don't care much for the twins. Maybe a bag choice of photo
The song is a story of brothers.
With introducing this I might say
This is a song about Somebody's brother.
People do listen then. Too much descriptive  elaboration and the listener will become passive.
Let them work it out. I play for folks like myself.
Cheers, rightly.
