Barren - to one of our musical friends
on: December 30, 2017, 15:48:59
...Who is in quite an unpleasant situation. This sprang to mind when I was reading a poem by Dorothy Parker called Distance. So, the song is a mix of both worlds. It is much more slow tempo if you compare this to the previous ones I posted. I hope you like this as well...

This is just so very good in so many ways. I love the drums and the guitars, particular those wah parts. And your vocals performance and placement in the mix is really spot on for the mood of the piece. Did I mention the keys and the pads?

I am listening right away a second time to really hang on the lyrics. I am actually glad that you did not post them as I love having to give the song this second more concentrated listen.

On this second listen I am hearing an odd resonance from the kick........maybe at 1.5 KHz.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

@Leonard Scaper  There is a dub-effect on the bass. Possibly that interferes with the kick, because I did not add any effects there.

Or... I used a four-tap sequence on the kick in the chorus bits. They are not resonances, but 4 individual taps with my humble left foot on the kick, because I thought it would be interesting to see if I could muster that; I am a left footer, but a right hander...

Could be that.....or just a frequency thing. No worries.  ;) Fantastic song all around.
