Breathe In The Water
on: March 31, 2019, 21:41:34
Wow....so much going on today in The Kitchen!!!!

I figured I might as well join the party with something new.

Breathe In The Water
https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v4/player.cfm?songID=13859524

I am patiently waiting
Where the stream comes through
That's all I can do
I am patiently waiting
For the final clue

I am patiently waiting
For the mist to clear
'Cause it's almost here
I am patiently waiting
And I have no fear

If it takes all night
That's alright
Those trees in the mist
Are a beautiful sight
And off in the distance
Is the morning light

And from this bed I've made
Into this stream I'll wade
I'll breathe in the water
'Til the starlight fades

Breathe in the water
This is a dream
And it's filled with light
Breathe in the water

INSTRUMENTAL

I am patiently waiting
To be renewed
I hope it comes soon
'Cause I am patiently waiting
For the dream to come true

The lyrics speak of acceptance and they do it with the serene beauty, conserving the horizon because it always gives life although we are no longer there, and all this through your new breath.

Nothing else I'll tell you except that I hope everything is a wonderful truly poetic spoken dream.  ::thumb::

@Leonard Scaper, the song is lovely. It has a meditative quality thatís pleasing to the ears and the mind. Pretty melody, lovely guitar and vocals. I also like the backing vocals and the spoken words.

Great title. The notion of breathing the water is intriguing. (I sometimes have dreams where Iím swimming far beneath the surface, and am able to breathe. Maybe it means that on that particular occasion Iím at ease with my sub-conscious. ;) ) Did your lyric arise from an actual dream?

The text is clear and concise, and paints an appealing landscape, with details familiar to everyone (i.e. stream, mist, trees, morning light, etc).

I also very much like the element of poignancy, of longing.

You are having a bit of a spiritual journey lately Leonard mate. Sounds like youre having a bit of a wash in the Ganges here.
What a rich recording, loads of luvverly stuff going on, giving my ears a real treat.
Some gorgeous natural sound coming out of that acoustic guitar again, like it was still attached to the tree it came from.
Never heard you play electric before either and I'm loving the organ.
Obviously recorded at Siddhartha Sound on the Nirvana Highway.
Luvverly stuff, mate.

Thanks so much to all who have listened.

@Marcus Nalgaber ......that is an interesting perspective. I must ponder the other Leonard that seemed to come out here.

@Mora Amaro La Loba ....yes...acceptance and a deep understanding of self....at least at that moment.  ;)

@DonMar .......smiling.......yes, it was a dream. Breathing in the water from the stream of my consciousness.....very similar to what you experienced, I suspect. Thank you for your close listen. I really appreciate your deep critique of the lyrics.

@eric craptone ....yeah...I am in that kind of space a bit these days. I did enjoy getting more of a full sound with that wash of synths....not my style usually. Glad you dig the electric guitar. Chuckling at the studio.

I really like this song!! The intro is amazing and your voice is great!!  ::thumb::
And I love the melody!

Is it an idea to put song strings on the background?

Hey @Jellody ........strings could work in some places. In this production, though, I was looking for some spacier sounds so I dug a little deeper into the circuitry of my old rack synth unit.  Thanks for checking this out and for your kind words.

Where, untill now @Leonard Scaper , you have been searching for a more Ďbarrení trail, you seem to have revived a certain partying youthfulness.
And we both know how difficult that is.
But you pullled (pulled) it off nevertheless. The apple mafia disapprove of nevertheless, but I happen to know of an Elektra release which opened with a song of that title.

I donít know which to go by:
The exuberant butterflies exhibited here (or)
The more almost meditating vein you tapped the last few months
Maybe I donít want to choose???

You surprised me no end!
Kind regards, Gus

Thanks for listening @Dutchbeat and @LePlongeur .

It is interesting, Gus...this current musical path that I seem to be on. I still think I am just always writing the same song over and over until I get it right, though. Maybe I am inching closer.  ;)

Noyouíre not. Inching closer I mean.
Frankly, I donít know what I am talking about of course, since youíre the only one to judge.
But by giving you the idea that youíre getting further off the goal, I hope you keep on trying.
Genius idea or what???
Kind regards, Gus

Wow @Leonard Scaper ... your attention for detail in a mix is amazing...  ::headphone::

I'm still learning the ropes myself and every time I listen to one of your songs I can't help but wonder if you plan it in detail or if you go by intuition... No, who am I kidding, you have to be very aware of every move and have intention... guess that's where experience comes in play.

There are these subtle touches and timing when certain elements enter this song. The electric guitar gave it another dimension. The balance of the song is really good and I like it very much. Like how you drop everything out but the vocal and guitar and then sneak it back in again. I won't go on with more details... try to take some with me though.

A great song and a great perfomance, as always :)

I really appreciate that @Layerson . But I have to be honest and say that I approach my productions with very little intention.

As usual, this one started with a simple guitar thing that felt good to play and got tracked almost in one live take after playing it a few times. I just fill in with instruments that feel right at the time and try to just feel the flow as it gets created. There's a piano track in this one that I put down in the middle of the night after I woke up with the idea.  :)

I guess that after all these years of doing this I'm getting pretty good at jamming with Lenny.  ;)

A lot of what you hear in the finished product is created in the editing process where I listen carefully and do a lot of volume automation. That sometimes means dropping short sections completely out. I also spend a lot of time gently nudging things to align and play nicely with each other.
