"CamGirl & Fanboy"
on: February 09, 2018, 18:28:57

This is my latest, some of you may have heard it already , it's a duet!
There's a songwriting meetup here in London where people get to share and collaborate on songs.
I met "Figgy" there and have been recording and producing some songs for her.
for fun I decided I'd write a duet. it's called "CamGirl & FanBoy" and it's about
consumerism , social media and neglect :-)

 https://soundcloud.com/dakoda-sada/dakoda-sada-ft-figgy-camgirl-and-fanboy

   CamGirl & FanBoy
   Vocals: Dakoda & Figgy
   Lyrics and Music: Dakoda Sada

 When I let you go
it was like taking off, a tight pair of shoes
 it felt so good
the last thing I want to do , is hurt you
it's the very last thing on my to-do list

 you're just a brand sucker, a fanboy with wide-eyes
 waiting to discover
 a fanboy with wide-eyes
 waiting to discover
is it Samsung or Apple that's going to be your next lover

you're every grin and word are stored on a server
you're self-obsessed and chav-like, to the casual observer
it's too late for taking back that hurt
because its all up on twitter, I'm covered in dirt
you send every thought and comment into the cloud
showcased to the public , who knows if they are proud

 fanboy,camgirl,narcissist, attention-whore,phone-bore,
 your pathetic, and your apathetic

your just a brand sucker, a fanboy with wide-eyes
 waiting to discover,
 a fanboy with wide-eyes
 waiting to discover,
is it Samsung or Apple that's going to be your next lover

I prefer poisoner to fish chef...

Wow!!!

You guys really work well together. This is really good. You know I love your stuff, man, and this collab takes it to another level. Figgy has something going on that really works with you.

When I let you go

That's a lyrical image right there.

Hey @Dakoda , I'm really pleased you have posted this on here as it is a very important track for you, sounding more contemporary than usual and showing you off at your very best. Plus with the lyrical content it is bang on up-to-the-minute social commentary.

Listeners often take to duets, and a bit of chemistry between male and female singers is often well received, but I have to go back to Fairy Tale of New York to remember a song featuring quite so much bickering as this! It is really good, especially as it gets progressively more vicious!  ;D

Hopefully we will hear more from this collaboration, as it could go far.

Plus you sing it well too. Your mate Figgy sounds like a proper artist too, I'd like to hear more of her stuff too. Good one mate, excellent really!
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

NO review needed for this song @Dakoda ........This one is for real!!!!! IMO   :)  :)
Timely, well-produced, well performed, musically and lyrically astute. Well done!

Thanks  Bill (two times and current reigning world champion songwriter) From November Sound, when are you going to declare...
that you're in the positive song comp, or have you already?.
there's surely a clause in the contract that the incumbent champion can't just hand over the crown and not enter the next competition. :-)

She's going to sing a couple of my songs on her EP when it's done, along with a couple of her own.
I'm not sure I realised before just how much a different singer can change the whole vibe of a song.
She can sing some of my downbeat songs and make them sound much brighter.

 @Dakoda
Maybe a bit strange story, but Iím going to tell it anyhow.
In France, France Gall died recently. She started recording at age 16 en did a song called computer #3 in 1968. No typo!
I had to look up in an specialized library what she was talking about. Also, straight faced, she did a couple of songs only half an inch from the line of becoming pornographic. If the devil himself would have made an appearance, she would have laughed at him.
A friend of mine asked: so, what are we going to do now? My answer was: the only way to do her justice, we are going to try and make better music.

Thatís the same with @Bill from November Sound. 3 times winner? 4 times winner? The only solution I think is to try and be better. With the same arguments as above.
I think youíre well under way.
Kind regards, Gus

Okay.... :D  ... Why is this thread about @Dakoda  's perfectly marvelous song turning into speculation about the next competition around here?  :)

Let's get more people to listen to and comment on this song! It is awesome!

(......try not to think about a positive song of happiness that I may or may not be crafting in secret.....)

It's funny 'cos I thought more people would pick up on the line

"the last thing I want to do , is hurt you
it's the very last thing on my to-do list"

   that's pretty vicious, I'm basically saying I haven't
hurt you yet, but I will get round to it, believe me I going to hurt you!
it's evil, but I think I softened it too much with
"the last thing I want to do , is hurt you" line,
so the play on words gets lost....
 Dakoda.

It definitely makes for interesting chemistry when you have a young person , with "bleeding" edge modern music influences,
being produced by an old bloke who thinks Rap is just people talking!  ;D

Hey, LePlogeur, I'd never heard of "France Gall" , so I just looked her up on YouTube and the first track that came up was this

I'd listen to that kind of catchy 80's pop all day long. (and probably will now...)
I'd never heard of her before , or Johnny Halliday who also died recently and was a megastar in France , on par with Elvis (seemingly?)
but invisible to world! it's a shame songs in the French language don't get a wider audience , there's something about French singing
that's pretty cool in my book, (even if I can't quite put my finger on it). (that song "Ella, elle l'a" just wouldn't sound the same in English)

(note to @Bill from November Sound , you need a snowboarding song in French to optimize your chances in competition)

The thing is @Dakoda you don't sound 'old' on that song, you sound similar era to my ears. Video killed the radio star eh? Hence why I don't do YouTube, anyway!  ;)

I would like to do a m/f duet sometime, we've seen some really good ones on here over recent months - you, together with @Zedd and @Jambrains- and of course @Leonard Scaper with @Nic. More in this little space than you hear out there in the whole big bad world, in fact. Maybe somebody should do a duets compilation, it's the next big thing for sure. Well done again on your song anyway, it's great. 'You're Pathetic/You're Apathetic' - I am saving that line up for my next real life row with somebody!  ;)

Yes, these are the yť yť chanteuses et chanteuses.
They named themselves after chubby Checkerí s everybody say yeah yeah, from letís twist again.
Johnny Halliday and Steve Marriott were really close. As a result, Johnny recorded several songs with the Small Faces and with the Humble Pie. About 1 million people came to Paris to pay respect during his funeral.
Friends of mine, who live in Bedoin, drove 600 kilometers to do the same. And 600 back again of course.

Ella Elle lía is France Gallís 49th single. Daughter of the guy who wrote the iconic la mama with Charles Aznavour.

When it comes to melodic structure thereís much to discover in the yťyť tradition.
If you have a few hours to kill, please give yourself a treat and start browsing.
Beautiful duets too. Ahhhh....., donít start me talking!!!
Kind regards, Gus
