I am putting the songs from the inspirational input songwriting challenge in separate tracks, so that they can get more focused feedback. Song is from Fischermans based on insprirational input from Diademgrove (Keith), input at the bottom of this post

quote from Fischermans:

"Ok now the pressure is reality!  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Seriously I did not know anything about this Hotel.So I started my investigation and red a lot about what all happened in this hotel and how many famous people lived there.With all this input I grabbed my guitar and tried to find a melody. After I have found the first chords and the first words, everything goes very fast and from the very first beginning it was sure that the white horse from the lobby has to be part of the lyrics. Thank you again Keith for the input.

Chelsea Hotel  Juli 2015  Kapo 6

Verse 1
You are a legend, out of stone
Twenty third street, Chelsea district
New York City, at it?s best
A place to love, and to rest

Refrain
Some fall in love with you
They never knew why they do
Love you forever stay together
In room 42 and in room 41
At the lobby with the horse on the wall
Where it all begun
Where it all begun
My love for you is true hu huu

Verse 2
Chelsea Hotel between heaven and hell
Just on the right place I love your face
There are so many story?s you can tell
Real life one can smell

Refrain
Some fall in love with you
They never knew why they do
Love you forever stay together
In room 42 and in room 41
At the lobby with the horse on the wall
Where it all begun
Where it all begun
My love for you is true hu huu

Outro

Chelsea Hotel you didn?t always do well
Although you mostly found the balance between heaven or hell
Some fall in love with you
They never knew why they do
Love you forever stay together
Room 42, room 41
Where it all begun
Where it all begun
Where it all begun

What a great song and inspiration.  The Chelsea Hotel is rightly famous, and this song certainly catches an atmosphere which fits it's history.   The haunting-style vocals and simple guitar backing adds an eeriness......quite scary toward the end when these voices 'where it all begun' jump out and frighten you !

Hi fischermans, can't believe I didn't already reply to this song! This is a nice one (leuk! please use english as...), like the atmosphere here. Also like the chord progressions.
The singing works fine in this tune, though it would work just fine if you'd sing a few more words out-of-the-box imo. But really well done, enjoyed it! MM

Hi Fisch,

Well written lyrics delivered in your captivating style.
Think you've conjured a nice mood. Guitar tone and vocal compliment each other.
An early front runner?

Digger

The Chelsea Hotel was a must see attraction for us when we went to New York to get married. Dylan Thomas died there, Bob Dylan lived there, Nancy was murdered there (by Sid?), Harry Smith lived there and Leonard Cohen meet Janis Joplin on an unmade bed. The porter was amazed when we asked if we could photograph the lobby but did say yes. One of the pictures was fisherman's inspiration. He definitely did the photograph justice.

@Zedd
Thank you Karen.You made my day.
@diademgrove
Thanks again for the great inspiration.I never have had written this song without it.

Yeeeah this is your sound Fish!

This would be a great background song for a movie were they look back at greater times!

The only thing I find a bit of is that you sing room 41 directly after room 42. I like this room 42 sentence so much that I think a littles silence would be great! Keep out the room 41 sentence haha It?s just meant suggestively!  :D :D ;)

It is really a nice track as it stands Fisch!

Happy to listen to this again.  Love the vocal style.  Never heard that much staccato in singing before.  Mucho original!

I was just in NYC a couple of weeks ago, so this tune takes me back.  I love the melody of this song.  I agree with others that the lyrics are very evocative.  Well done.

@BdK
Thank you for your words.I'm not sure what you meant about the room 42 sentence.Please explain again.Sorry.
@AA
Thanks a lot.
Never heard that much staccato in singing before.
Means this something good or worse? ???
@Andrew
Thank you very much.

@ fish

I mean stick with room 42 only! Change the 41 sentenc or leave it out would be better. I think..

Nice! The minimalist vocal really suits the classy guitar.

I agree with Boudewijn that the line with "41" doesn't really work all that well. And it should be all "where it all began" not "begun". Pop music is full of grammatical errors, but this one is particularly unpleasant for native speaker ears :-)

If I were you I would just repeat "Room 42, room 42" and change "begun" to "began". And even if you leave "room 41" in, you should still change the "begun" even if the rhyme suffers slightly.
