Competition Song "End Of My Road Blues"

Here it is - it came out an alternative country song no less.
V.

Misty rain in the morning makes me old before my time,
I'm tired of the life I'm living, want to leave it all behind,
I was taught it's how you play the game,
Not if you win or loose,
I'm sitting here with my guitar,
Feeling the end of my road blues

There's been some angles along the way taking care of me,
Listening to the songs I play, singing harmony,
But, now I'm all alone, it's not what I would choose,
I'm sitting here with my guitar,
Feeling the end of my road blues

It was fun at the start,
But, I've grown weary and torn apart,
It's too late to be missing you,
I'm sitting here with my guitar,
Feeling the end of my road blues

This misty rain just has a way of slowly killing me,
But, with my demise, will I finally be set free?
I'll pick another road, it seems it's time to choose,
I'm sitting here with my guitar,
Feeling the end of my road blues

I really like your style here.  This has that Johnny Cash with Rick Rubin vibe from when he covered Nine Inch Nails' Hurt.

I want to hear a duet with you and @Leonard Scaper

You know @Vince , I don't think I've heard you sing since just after I first joined The Kitchen. Thanks for doing this one. I sure do wish you would do more.

I really love your singing style. This is down home music written and performed in an honest and forthright style.

This is really very lovely @Vince  :) Doesn't sound like your regular blues track, which I like ::thumb:: Love your vocals and I agree it's got that Johnny Cash vibe  ::heart::
It's definitely the kind of song that I would listen to more than once ::Note:: It's got that endearing melancholy soul vibe, that almost makes me cry :(
Great lyrics and the lovely backing track, embellishes them perfectly  ::heart::
I'd like to hear what it sounded like before this version, if you have it  ::Suzy::

Thank you @Knate  @Leonard Scaper  & @CrystalSuzy   I thought in telling this guy's story it needed a voice that sounded like a thousand miles of hard

road, smokey saloons and Jack Daniels - I caught a bad cold over the holiday and had that kind of voice, but I was too sick to record. The voice still maybe

has that , even though it's not as bad as it was.

There is no other version of this song -  I wrote this (rather quickly) for the contest - I guess it was floating around out there and I tuned into it.  I don't usually save my tracks, just the "final" version - it's just better for me to record a different version from scratch instead of trying any kind of re-mix.

That's one song with its own special mood. Vocals are very assured with a lovely tone, recorded so well and they just lull you along into the song's gentle rhythm. I like how you add other backing instruments very sparsely, almost like they're just stopping by for a quick look in, but don't want to hog the party.

I think this one is going to stand as one of your best from over the years! Timeless class.

Well done! I would like it even better if it wasn't entered in the competition, as I'm going to have to pull my finger out now to compete with that, damn it!  ;)

If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

Thank you so much @MichaelA  especially your comment on the instruments - I think that comes from listening and watching videos of traditional Blue Grass music where everyone gathered around one microphone, (probably because us hillbillies - I mean Southern Highlanders  ;D - could only afford the one mic).

I'm sure you'll be entering something to get me worried  :o ;D

Best,

Vince

very nice @Vince  ::thumb:: ::thumb::
that line "feeling the end of my road blues" is great

the mond harp  may be improved perhaps...., by rerecording it and playing it with more guts and a big (huge) reverb perhaps?  8) 8) 8) 8) 8)

a LOVELY song  ::headphone:: ::headphone:: ::headphone::

Thank you @Dutchbeat   I've been experimenting with ways to make the harmonica less shrill sounding on recordings. I have put it (sparingly) on some of my other recordings. I probably need to buy a special mic.

When it's just me in the bedroom I have a neck thingie that holds the harmonica while I play old Dylan songs on the guitar.

Maybe for the dance-mix? The harmonica may be a novelty in EDM.  ;D
