Hey @man of simple pleasures  this is cool! Somehow I can't really believe that someone would cover this song... I don't know, really ... When I read Cover of "would my ceilings be recognized?" I was like this  :o

Nice acoustic cover of a real esoteric creation. You do your thing well! Good show!

Some how I feel as though Amsterdam is the real winner of the 2018 Cover Challenge. All these songs about Amsterdam?!?!  :)  I'll go look at a map now.

If it werenít rather chilly, at 968 meter altitude before a small tent, Iíd be blushing.
Here in a natureís reserve area the coverage internet wise isnít great so I keep it short.

I am really proud for such a talented person to pick up and cover one of my songs.
If it doesnít win the challenge @man of simple pleasures (it should win actually) it should give you a truck load of extra kudoís for such a brave entry.
And for being able to get the core of the song.

Fantastic. I am going to listen to it again and again when Gods and The Connection allow to do so.
Lots of luck in/with the challenge!!!
Kind regards, Gus

Yes, I have kept my word. I listened again as promised.
With a better connection it sounds even better. If music works miracles, thereís nothing going to convince me that ones and zeroes donít act accordingly.

Nice one @man of simple pleasures !

I'm really glad you covered this song and I love how you did it. I really like the playing....cool percussion.

This is another excellent cover....this challenge is producing some amazing material.

Didnít notice it before but, intentionally or typo, would my ceilings makes it even more recklessly than the original.
Highly original @man of simple pleasures !!!

I like this song a lot. And although your version is pretty bare-bone, you have captured the mood of the original very well. Your guitar playing is excellent!

A small note to keep your faith strong, @man of simple pleasures
There are three story lines in the song, which make it a bit of a puzzle.

1
Comment on the state, the village of Amsterdam is in. I know itís a city for nearly 800 years, but it had 850.000 inhabitants. And something like 1.400.000 visitors per day.
More hotels? And still more?

2
The people who recorded Amsterdamís recent history.
Ed van der Elsken with his photos.
Published love on the left bank, late fifties to great acclaim and published regularly in Time/Life since 1960.
Developed street photography as a genre early 60ís.

Now we have an annual documentary festival , but when Johan van der Keuken made the bulk of his beautiful  documentaries it was a genre that almost didnít exist.

3
The ceilings.
If all of the above items are true, would the part with the ceilings not be?

But in line number 3, thereís another small joke.
I expected the Dutch part of the Kitchen to recognize it and react on it.
But no one did, as far as I know.
Van der Keuken (or van de Keuken, as Johanís son write the family name) can only be translated as
[size=12pt) From the Kitchen[/size].

There you go friend, you surely picked a wicked (says Borat) one to cover.....
Good luck!
Kind regards, Gus
