Delicious Grace - The Boy From Memphis (demo)
on: November 27, 2018, 16:01:48
Hi guys. This is a song I wrote called ''The Boy from Memphis''. It's still in demo status but I really wanted to share it with Elvis' fans (I guess we've got a few around here).

A humble homage to one of the greatest singers of all time. Hope you enjoy:

Lyrics - The Boy From Memphis

The way that he moves

Like he doesnít care

May get you off guard

Thereís no time to spare

Itís hard to explain

What to feel or what to say

Iím not gonna meet you

Goodbye, amazing grace

Walking in a velvet room

The feeling comes along

Is it roalty besides you?

Youíre standing alone

Chorus:
Shake it, shake it, baby

(The boy from Memphis comes to town)

Shake it, shake it, baby

(Heís going to leave you in disguise)

To dress like a king

The legend lives on

Soulpower in your voice

We must carry on

Watching a silverscreen

A diferent kind of man

Is it magic or real life?

You can not decide

Chorus:
Shake it, shake it, baby

(The boy from Memphis comes to town)

Shake it, shake it, baby

(Heís going to leave you in disguise)

Ending:

Ooh Donít let me go...

interesting punk rock track for Elvis. Pleasant surprise. The drums sound real & rough. Hope you keep it like that. Good luck with the next stage

When I first listed to your song  @alcapone_dudu  I was surprised because I agree with @oorlab  in that it sounded punk to me which I didn't associate with Memphis or Elvis. But, it is a nice song and I enjoyed listening to it. I will be looking for your final mix. Are you on  Soundcloud?

Hello @oorlab! Thank you for listening. And I'm glad you liked some of it.

Yes, I do have a background in punk that's why it ''pours'' out of me almost unintentionally.

Thank you @Vince. It means a lot.

The plan is to use real instruments for the horn section. Make the song bigger. Let's see how this will play out.

Unfortunately Delicious Grace is not on Soundcloud. Youtube seemed to be the best choice for us.

Love this.
In theory it solves a puzzle.
We know how Elvis sounded in the late 50ís and late 60ís during the hippy period, but the late 70ís always remained a mystery.

Punkish ? Would he have gone that far?  I hope so.
This is a worthy tribute in the making.
Great work!
Kind regards, Gus

I liked your perspective to analyze this whole thing. Elvis is a force of nature and he would do almost any other genre in music properly.

The song came this way you guys can listen. I didn't plan to make a ''punk tribute'' to him. But it turned into something interesting at least. I'm glad you liked @LePlongeur. Thanks!
