Hey all! "Digging Deep" is the first song I wrote and recorded in 2018. I tried to take a much more meticulous approach to the recording of this song. Plus, this is the first song I recorded on my SM57 microphone (LOVVVEEE this mic). Let me know what you guys think! :) I'll post the lyrics below as well:

https://soundcloud.com/noisealter/digging-deep

I complain, I complain, but I say what I want
Lazy days, lazy days, guess it's better than none
I look around, look around, everybody's gone
Grab a pick, pluck some strings to a little song
Looking for fire, looking for dim spots on the sun
Searching for higher, changing some things, I did em' wrong
Looking for fire, heating the cold that's settled down
Inside my soul

Digging deep, I'm trying to find where to begin
No direction, I have no clue which way to go
I feel lost and never found
Hard to know how to get around
I've settled down, settled down, gotta get some air
I talk a walk down the road with a midnight stare
Looking for fire, looking for dim spots on the sun
Searching for higher, changing some things, I did em' wrong
Looking for fire, heating the cold that's settled down
Inside my soul

Digging deep, I'm trying to find where to begin
No direction, I have no clue which way to go
I feel lost and never found
Hard to know how to get around
Hooked on things that I cannot get away from
Killing myself from my own self destruction
I feel broke and incomplete
Hard to stay up on my feet
I complain, I complain, but I say what I want
Lazy days, lazy days, guess it's better than none
I look around, look around, everybody's gone
Grab a pick, pluck some strings to a little song

Hey @NoiseAlter - this has a bit of a Nirvana feel to it... which of course is a great thing! Very polished and accomplished sound.. Great vocal and instrumentation - great guitar work!! Really like the lyrics - they read really well and sound even better sung!

Loved it.. ;D

I agree with everything @Zedd said.

This is serious throwback grunge. well written and performed and a really fine recording as well.

Thank you both! I'm trying to incorporate different elements into these newer recordings too. Such as the more harmonization on the vocal tracks and better and more fluent approaches to song structure. That's why I love this site! I go and listen to artists like yourselves and take a little bit from everything I hear.

Dude you frigging rock man. Really feeling Foo Fighters on this one. Everything sounds polished, great on my monitors, impressed as always of your songs. You do know I'm a drummer, you wanna jam anytime man let me know. Keep on keeping on  ::Rachel::

We are the music makers,
And we are the dreamers of dreams,
Wandering by lone sea-breakers,
And sitting by desolate streams;—
World-losers and world-forsakers,
On whom the pale moon gleams:
Yet we are the movers and shakers
Of the world for ever, it seems.

@NoiseAlter
Easily better than anything Nirvana did in Paradiso/Amsterdam at the time. And believe me, I was there.
you would have put him to shame.

I can’t judge if you evolve as an artist, only you can. And if you’re happy.......
Kind regards, Gus

Hey man!!
That's something serious!! :O :O :O

In my opinion you are already an Artist!! ;D
Keep rockin'!!!

Great bit of music @NoiseAlter , the distortion is spot on, not too much but the right amount of edge. Plenty of bass in it and not too fizzy.

The only thing to think about with this track would be the ending is a bit tame after the solo.
If you were paying it live I'd be inclined to leave it on a high with the end of the solo and just the phrase "I complain, I complain, but I say what I want" ... and leav it hanging.

The audience and listener are all pumped up so leave them there .... wanting more ;-)

Ohh yes and another repost ...

@Bluedusksun

thank you :) I'm definitely taking you up on that offer. Lets collab sometime brother!

@LePlongeur

Thats a big complement to say its better than Nirvana, but I'll definitely take it. You were there?! Beyond lucky! Totally jealous.

@OR·PHINE

Thank you! I felt like I had to put a big sound out. There was a time gap where I didnt post any music on SC so to put this track out and get so many positive reviews like yours is really what keeps me going :)

@MrBouzouki

You know, now that you mention it, it does kind of die off quick with the momentum! Never really thought of it until now but thank you for that :) If i ever play it live maybe I'll switch it up a bit after the chorus ;)

I really like this, which is quite weird since I'm very pop and into commercial pop music. Mainly electronic. So I shouldn't like this at all but I do. Maybe I'm finally growing up! :) Great work.

I also watch you YouTube channel. I really like your singing voice.
