Great singing @LePlongeur   …. you sound really good. With an American ear it takes me a bit through that first verse and then I start to understand it all very well. …. I mean, yeah, you have certain ways of pronouncing things that take me time to get used to …. but really it's pretty awesome that you can do that.  :ok:
I enjoy your unique style, for sure!  :)

You are absolutely right.
You hit the nail on the head. My songs are about social comments/concerns or reckless partying.
With this comment you fire my curiosity about your music. I will take the time next few days to check that out.
Thanks for listening and your post.

Kind regards, Gus

It's not just American ears who find my songs are taking getting used to @Bill from November Sound .
The further I am away from the Middle of the Road, the more getting used to it takes.
And I am happy that you made the effort.

Thanks for the compliments too.
Kind regards, Gus

Hi @LePlongeur

I like the way your vocals work with this - you have created a melody that isn't obvious for the chords. That's a great skill to know what works in a melody when singing over the chord progression.

And it takes a vocal range to be able to do this.

At first I thought there was too much reverb on the vocals but by the end of the song I didn't notice much at all.

The guitars sound great - really nice sound and playing.

cheers

No, to the first question. And I  listened and it is horrible (sorry) I think. Completely out of my league.

The method of layering or layered recording however, is completely my thing.
The method is called sound on sound and is monoral only.
You record a guitar on the left channel of your reel to reel recorder. Then you play it back, and while doing so, mix it with the intended extra guitar and you add another guitar and you record  the two guitars on the right channel of your recorder.
Then, again, you mix the right channel with a bass.....
And a voice.....
And whatever tickles your fancy.
It takes some hours before a track is finished.

A very fine punk artist (punk in time, not in music) did this and called her first 25 cm LP sound on sound. After the process of recording. She is the best theramin player I know of. Faye Lovski. Check her music out if you have a spare moment.

It will be no surprise to you that I have some 8 or 9 reels full of recordings of old material that I did this way.
The first tracks were bounced to and fro and lost a considerable amount of higher tones in the process. So you really had to plan your recording carefully. Or you’d end up with muffled singing and brilliant sounding drums.

A long story, but I think this is what they meant.
Kind regards, Gus

Yes it is horrible, just thought you might know the book....

And thank you for your great explanation of that recording method. Intresting way and creative process.
Thanks GUS

It definitely comes as no surprise to me, Gus @LePlongeur;)

I have recorded that way as well.....years ago.
