DRY LAND
© 2021 Chris Price

My last offering Ė 'All I know ' -  is unavailable as Nelly (co-writer) is looking into a commercial release, so hereís a new solo song. Unusually for me itís a blues. This was written a while ago when I became aware of the plight of refugees fleeing in terror from war and abuse only to find themselves in terrible danger on the seas as they tried to find a new life in Europe and elsewhere. Covid-19 is awful but no more so than what these guys go through.

As the ship sales on out to sea, oblivious to the waves
donít know whatís out there you see, or if anyone will be saved
I know you all paid out the money, all shelled out the dough
Chasing the dream, now itís all out of your hands
Cross my fingers, nobody understands
Gotta spare a thought for the children, mustnít bury them in the sand
Fortune Godspeed, I hope you all make dry land

Living rough on the beaches, makes no sense at all
This is exactly what we created, every time we wage a war
Itís time to tear down the customs and open up the door
Chasing the dream, now itís all out of your hands
Cross my fingers, nobody understands
Gotta spare a thought for the children, mustnít bury them in the sand
Fortune Godspeed, I hope you all make dry land

Chasing the dream, now itís all out of your hands
Cross my fingers, nobody understands
Gotta spare a thought for the children, mustnít bury them in the sand
Fortune Godspeed, I hope you all make dry land

Nice. I enjoy the developments in the harmonies between the parts. Wanted to know more about your bio on your website. Put some more information out there in the world. Your fans are curious))

Plus as a bonus a 1967 peace sign!
Never mind Nelly, we can keep a secret.

Keep them coming!

Thanks guys for your warm comments. I don't often venture into blues music so this was a bit different for me. I'm pleased the message came over - I was trying not to get too political. Glad to be here :)

@ChrisPrice  - fantastic, liking the drums, and solo a lot, the singing too.
The chord change and melody at "Chasing the dream, now itís all out of your hands
Cross my fingers, nobody understands"  lifts this above the normal blues format.

You are one of the very best at putting music and song together on this site...or any other. You are the brand that I would have hooked up with (years ago) and would have made a go at the whole "get famous" thing.
Always like your stuff!

@ChrisPrice Yeah, this is great. Old timey vibes on the forum today. Not complaining.  ::e-guitar3::
