Love it @Dutchbeat and @oorlab

It has a PiL taste to it mixed in with some talking heads and a smidgeon of Dutchbeat

nice one!

cheers

OOh, nice  one you guys!
Talking Heads inspired for sure, with a very good call & response vocal and that background el. guitar sound perfect.
"the Lake of Love"?? is that the name?
A contender, I would say.

Robert

Thanks @robertkc  @Jurgen   - indeed the Title is the Lake of love. After Water of love (Dire Straits), Sea of Love (Fleetwood Mac), and The River (Bruce Springsteen ) - @Dutchbeat and me came up with a watery theme, as I was inspired by Dutchbeat's avatar on soundcloud )

Here are the lyrics

Lake of love

There's a story
as old as the mountains,
I know it really happened;
but I deny everything!
If they ask me
what went on...

Before we knew it,
we were standing
at the side of the Lake.

Are you there?
Am I here?
At the lake of Love.

And that was then:
for the first time,
boy and girl.
Only then, as a boy
as a girl,
I had to know
what's going on
In the world.

That's how it feels,
Somebody tell me where this is,
Heading down the shoreline
of the Lake
The lake of Love

At the side of the lake

thanks @Mora Amaro La Loba , @Jurgen  and @robertkc

and...it is funny, that you both @Jurgen and @robertkc refer to Talking heads

@oorlab likes Talking heads very much, and we set out to to make the track sound a bit like Talking Heads meets New Order, with some ... :P :P :P :P ;D ;D Prince on the side, kind of thingy  ;D ;D ;D.. for the kitchen collab challenge

i also like the reference to PIL @Jurgen ...but..
that is probably is not going down very well with the singer.... right, @oorlab  ;D ;D ;D

but seriously, thanks for listening...and

stay tuned  :o :o :o

@Dutchbeat @Jurgen - PIL - This is not a love song - is sheer genius- really a breankthrough song. I should explore PIL more.
Cheers

i agree @oorlab, Pil and the Sex pistols are  under-appreciated

Proudly presenting the video for Lake of Love
featuring some creative commons videos from Archive.org and Flickr.com - special mention of Connie Nice dancing in the night
https://archive.org/details/Connie_Nice_-_Dancing_In_The_Night and on special request from @Dutchbeat  some VJloops

@oorlab @Dutchbeat Quite a busy song, full speed like a bobsleigh in a speeding track. That guitar sometimes reminds me a bit of Masami Tsushiya, the way she plays it in The Art of Parties. I like the interaction between Oorlab and Oorlab in the vocals. That works quite well.
Pleudoniem: composer; bass guitarist; guitarist; singer; drummer; tap-guitarist - o, and yes... erm- a bit of keys. Open for collabs.

@Pleudoniem  - thanks for the feedback Eric! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Masami_Tsuchiya is a 'he' or is there another Masami Tsuchiya?

@oorlab 'she' is indeed a 'he', although that is quite a question if you look at the pictures that were made of the creature at the time, quite androgynous, I might add, as was the rest of the band at the time.

Thank you for sharing this outstanding entry @Dutchbeat  and @oorlab !

I absolutley enjoyed the clip as a whole, you created a  a well fitting main composition  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::
Great collab you both!! ( and the dancer  ;))

Oooh, very cool collab!
Such drive and energy right from the start, I hear traces of a classic @Dutchbeat sound :) The percussion and (synth?) bass sound great!
And I am indeed getting some New Order vibe - I think that's from the guitar sound. E.g. the bit at 1:08, I really like those little licks in between! (I suppose that is @oorlab at work?) Nice guitar playing!

A question as to the creative process here, if you two have the time: How did you guys approach this? Were the guitar parts recorded with the rest of the track as a reference? Or was the rhythm section and synths added to an exisiting guitar track? (Just curious, as the combination sounds really cool...)

Thanks for asking @Michael , the creative process was iterative between @oorlab and me, and without any structure or plan.

Very nice for me to find out there are other people that work that way!     :pompom: :pompom: if i remember correctly...(please correct me @oorlab), after we agreed to collab...i think it was oorlab who started with proposing a title for the song  :shinyteeth:...so we had that  :shinyteeth:  ;D ;D, and i think we talked about aiming for something that had talking heads meets new order like hints, if we could manage that,  ;D ;D :P :P :-X
we also mentioned ...the word: discopunk - ish in this respect ....oorlab put down an 8 measure groove bass, that in fact was a 7 measure  groove bass...for some reason  ;D ;D ;D, the last measure was lost   ...beats (ahum...well just samples  ;D ;D  ::) )and low synths were put on there by me and i expanded the track to a length i hoped he would be prepared to sing to...but we had no lyrics  ::) ::)....but there was an email about some experience at a shoreline of a small lake out here in real life  ::) ::) ::) :-X, and Oorlab decided to simply use that email, he just translated it one on one into English and ad lib-ed onto that in his vocal tape, and added these guitar lines, and let me mix those goodies

it was a very fun songwriting process  , with no real planning or idea beforehand, i enjoyed that a lot
