Feels Good
on: June 20, 2018, 21:04:57
Hey all,

I've got a new track here called Feels Good. I'm not quite 100% finished it with (but it pretty much is done). Just wanted to get some critiques and thoughts if you'd like to take a listen. As I do with most of my songs, It's a build up to the end so I would appreciate a full listen if you have the time :)

This is a song I wrote about overcoming depression and anxiety (or any hardship) and finally coming out on the other side.

Thank you!!

Lyrics:

Lately I've been feeling so fine

I've been toying the line between reality and fantasy

Something 'bout my insides telling me forget all the fine print

And throw away anxiety

Pre-Chorus:

And I don't know what's gotten into me but I've been

Seeing every color so vi-vividly and I've been

Whistling while I work and I don't even know it

Yea, I don't even know it

Chorus:

It feels good walking out the door to sunshine

It feels good looking all the people in the eye

And I don't know what I was waiting for

No, I don't know what I was waiting for

I don't know what the hold up was

I guess it was me, myself, and I

I was in a cloud of dust

Now I'm in a big blue sky

I had more control than I ever imagined

And when I let go I gave in to the magic

Pre-Chorus:

And I don't know what's gotten into me but I've been

Hearing everything with positivity and I've been

Skipping my feet on the street and I didn't even know it

No, I didn't even know it

Chorus:

It feels good walking out the door to sunshine

It feels good looking all the people in the eye

And I don't know what I was waiting for

No, I don't know what I was waiting for

Bridge:

And all of a sudden the weight of the world came off of my shoulders

I'm part of the people

No longer on hills

Pushing up boulders

And all of a sudden I'm free as a bird

And all of a sudden I'm part of the world

All of a sudden...

Chorus:

It feels good walking out the door to sunshine

It feels good looking all the people in the eye

And I don't know what's gotten into me but I've been

Hearing everything with positivity and I've been

Skipping my feet on the street and I didn't even know it

No I didn't even know it

(fading out)

It feels good walking out the door to sunshine

It feels good looking all the people in the eye

I don't know what I was waiting for...

I am never disappointed with your stuff, Micky. Those choruses are very strong and the production dynamics really work for me in general. This song really does need a full listen.

I like how the vocal steps off into the distance at the end like that.

Here's something bold that I thought.....you might try the mix without the intro....just jump right in with your vocals. Might wok...maybe.  :)

@Mutrins very nice song! I love the way you used the prechorus to build up to the chorus. You created a great
song structure for the song.

Whatever you did to create harmonies in the chorus sounds great, and the reverb or whatever effect you
used gives it more power.

I also love the way you told the story of the song.

Awesome job!

Thank you so much!! Glad you like it :)

And, yes, great idea about getting rid of the intro. I will try that out!

Micky

Thank you @reidmoto !! I'm kind of reverb-obsessed so I had to tone it down a bit lol but I like to use it to give the song a nice quality sound. At least I hope that's what it does!

Thanks again :)

Hello @Mutrins. I really like your song and it's a very professional production. I really like the harmonies in the vocals - very warm and nice the way each note just sort of fades into the next and blends. If you are really looking for critical feedback, one thing that I felt was that at around the 3:00 mark, there was so much going on that I was losing the focus on the main theme. There was a lot sort of going on all blended together, and I'm just imagining something like a big "soaring vocal" at a couple intervals that would bring it back home or something like that. Maybe that is not the type of song you want or you don't sing that way - just my suggestion. Regardless, I really liked listening to it.

Well it's 30 degrees in the UK today and that song is like a ray of sunshine. "Perfect Pop" if you don't mind me using that label. I am going to Fuerteventura soon on my holidays and I can just imagine sitting in a bar on the coast with a cold beer and hearing "Feels Good" booming out of the speakers. It wouldn't sound out of place at all. In fact I shall make a point of listening to it on my headphones in just that setting lol. As said previously, the vocals have a lovely feel about them

Hi Micky. It's the first time I listen to a song of yours. It really seems to hear the latest pop hit on the radio. Perfect pop is the right expression.

I'm not a good critic, I can only say what I would instinctively change if it were my own song.

I would not leave two empty bars between the two "I don't know what I was waiting for" in the chorus. Instinctively I would like to hear them sung one after the other. (just my taste)

Have a nice day.

Roberto
