French Song "Couleurs" - "Colors"
on: June 11, 2021, 00:03:34
Hello everyone,

I finished a new composition inspired by the Spanish independent video game Gris and its music composed by Berlinist.
It's called "Couleurs" which means "Colors".

As usual, it is available on my SoundCloud here: https://soundcloud.com/mylenenelym/couleurs.

I am always grateful for your constructive, supportive and lovely feedback.
Thank you again kitcheners for listening.

I am going to put the translation in English of the lyrics below:

Do we know what we’re losing along the way?
We would like to have all or nothing
There are colors missing
Paint on the inside

Colors
Colors

Why do I feel like everything’s exploding?
I’m afraid things aren’t so rosy
There are colors missing
Paint on the inside

Colors
Colors

I guess I’m not alone
We all need a wink
There are colors missing
Paint on the inside

Colors
Colors

And if it ever comes to an end
We’ll keep the old memories
There are colors missing
Paint on the inside

Colors
Colors

There’s still a lot to live for
Finding your way, keeping balance
I mix the colors
I paint the inside

Colors
Colors

Merci à tous pour votre écoute et vos retours.
Bonne nuit
Mylene

@Mylene  - wow ! very much immediately liked. Not only because the lyrics (obviously) I also like the French feel in the mix - which is I guess the closeness of the voice and the broad piano and string setup.
Very impressive. If halfway drums and orchestra would set in, this could be really convincing in the Eurovision Song contest. But may be its better to leave out the fireworks!

With only half of the year gone, this gem already is on my most lovely originals of the year-list.

I will not spill any more words and go right back for another spin.

When this corona things peters out a bit, and you consider doing some touring, don’t forget to include the Netherlands. ‘We’ love a touch of french music in our theaters and we have enough small theatres and cafés to fit your intimate sounding songs.

By way of illustration, I take the liberty of including a link to ‘De Concertzender’. Number two on the playing list is a friend of mine by the way. Magali, who followed her heart and is now living in Copenhagen.

Instead of bonus points, I will give you a tartiflette to show how happy I am with this song.
Plus, with a little bit of luck (God and corona willing) the love of my life and me will do some summers walks and quiet talks along french north western quiet beaches next week. Maybe doing the route du cider and the route du Camembert. I’ll fill you in about how that went. But I’ll take your music with me.

Can’t wait to hear your next original!
Kind regards, Gus

Wow, I love the way you sing your French. The delicate and unique French pronunciations are so intriguing and fetching. NIce song lyrics also.

I was wondering how this gem fared. So I came back for an earful of happiness!
It’s still as wonderful as I remembered.

So a gentle
bump!!!
is required.

I hope you are having a wonderful summer and I hope for more people listening to this song!
Stay safe! @Mylene

Stunning words - also love the french. I was once told when in france by a singer that french is a terrible language for singing. You show otherwise, its nuances offer a range of expression inaccessible to the english singer.

Also love the minimalism of the song. I feel the space that's created by the basic elements adds to the atmosphere created with the beautiful poetry you've written here.

Some ideas to consider - re-record this with a real piano and a cello player then pay to get it mixed and mastered - possibly also a violinist to add the top register for the string concert feel kind like @oorlab suggested - you could probably sneak in a mellow enigmatic string solo before your last chorus or somewhere fitting.

While I like the present minimalist version - I feel it could also be developed into a soft-rock ballad.

Good luck with it, I hope you like my suggestions!

Thanks for bumping @LePlongeur  ! Hope you are well!
Upcoming release 'Foundation' available on redmondrecords.com September 2021!

@Mylene - the production is great, very clean. The vocals sounds great. The "realness" of how the instruments sound compared to how they really sound in reality it great. The recording is inspiring, especially of the piano. I love when you go up with your vocals, and then everything becomes a bit louder in the song, ending it well. I enjoyed listening. Cheers, Haim Shim.

wow thank you very much @Monty Cash Music
I am happy to see that you enjoy the French language. Thank you for your interesting and constructive feedback. I would love to collaborate with cello players and violinists (or any other musicians to be honest). I appreciate your kind words.

Thank you so much @Haim Shim for your feedback. I am glad you like the crescendo effect at the end of the song, this is what I was looking for.

Thank you guys for your lovely words
Enjoy your summer and I would love to hear songs from you as well.

...love the space in here - the arrangement is beautifully - and fittingly - sparse. Vocal takes centre stage and the track builds nicely.

Memorable - well done.
