Half night stands

The second one in the series of songs both in Dutch and in English:
Half night stands

Why do we bother with a one night stand if a half night stand is enough?
Right! Asking will give you the answer.

Backing of both versions is the same. The only difference is in the lyrics. And the mix, slightly, perhaps.

Half night stands (Dutch)

Wij wachten niet tot het daglicht
ons weer samen wakker kust
dat soort kleffe romantiekjes
dat beneemt ons wel de lust

Dus hoe ik zoenend, zoekend, grijpend
hemels in je bed beland
is geen reden whatsoever
te wachten tot het weer verzandt

Vroeger? Familie, vrienden, dus...
iedereen vindt wel dit of dat
daar hebben wij dus geen last van
wij kiezen zelf, maklijk zat

Half night stands hebben de toekomst
vijf uur stap ik op de fiets*
poets ik met mijn eigen borstel
mijn eigen huis, noem dat maar niets

br
Fleeting house, zong ooit Tim Buckley
maar het house dat fleet niet zo
't is meer een fleeting relatie
maar, how could he ever know

ref
We hebben geen geduld voor wachten
ik weet wanneer de film start
anders kijken we 'm later
ik hou van tender tinder
avondmaal? deliveroo
half night stands zijn spannend praktisch
genieten! niet te laat op je
werk, want dat is dus minder

Half night stands (English)

The link for the English version:
https://soundclick.com/r/s8c7k4

We do not wait untill the daylight
kisses us awake again
because that kind of tacky romance
will take away all our zen

So how did I kiss, search and grab
find myself heavenly in your bed
but that’s no reason whatsoever
for all the how-to’s we are fed

Back in the day? Family, friends…
everyone had an opinion, true
and we have no problems with that
make our own choices, is what we do

Half night stands are the future
at 5 o’clock I grab my bike*
I brush my teeth with my own brush
in my own house, that’s what I like

Bridge
My fleeting house, sang Tim Buckley
But the thing that’s fleeting is not my home
it’s more like a fleeting relationship
so that’s why I roamed and roam

Ref
We’re too impatient for waiting
I know when the movie starts
otherwise we’ll watch it later
tender tinder is our love
supper? We’ll do deliveroo
half night stand? Excitingly practical
enjoy it fully and taste it
and you’ll push andf I’ll shove

Do I have to explain that all the tracks are one take recording tracks?
It's a sketch, right?

Enjoy!
Kind regards, Gus

Thank you very much for your comment @Dutchbeat .
This is THE practical solution in times of Corona. Have your kicks but limit your exposure. Right?
In line with the guidelines issued by the government: Limit your social contacts.

This is the way to go: Half night stands have half the Corona impact. What a find huh?
Ollie B. Bommel says: 'I didn't know I had it in me'.

@LePlongeur  - sounds good, getting a Tröckener Kecks vibe.
At certain points, I would undouble the vocals to get a bit more precision.

TK vibe, I linke that a lot. A band that I like very much.
And precision....? I don’t even have a precision bass.
In 14 days, I wrote/reworked/recorded 20 songs. 10 in Dutch, 10 in English.
I plan to post 8 in Dutch and 8 in English.

If I aimed at precision, I wouldn’t have done half of them. It’s purely about the magic. One day there was nothing 14 later 20. I am quite pleased with the harvest.
But thank you for listening.

Kind regards, Gus

Hey @LePlongeur .....I love how you write, Gus. You mince no words and take no prisoners. With this most excellent song you have once again cut right through the debilitating fog of social correctness and struck a resonant blow to the bell of musical independence.

I love how you deliver the refrain and I love how the song comes to an end.

Thank you@Chris Spruit.
The sleighbell like percussion is nothing less than an imitation of the lovely lady beating away at the tambourine with a drumstick at Motown's. Early days. Yes, I'm old enough for that.

I love your multi lingual comment; I can seem to understand your 'Codfish' remark. Something to say to a life long veggie.
I think the apple mafia are responsible for that. As sure as they are responsible for everything despicable (smiley).

I love it how you love it.
Kind regards, Gus

Thank you very much @Leonard Scaper for the compliments.!
Musical independence no less! That shoe would definitely be too big for me.
But then, what would be the point in doing what everybody else does?

You may expect 7 more songs like this in as many weeks. Because they have been recorded already.
And what happens after that, Deo volente and Corana willing, the coast is clear for us to be in our small tent for a very long time.

I'm looking forward to that already.
Thank you for listening to my song. I have yet to listening to yours/Chris'. I am really curious, but I broke the cord of my headphone. Tomorrow, tomorrow.....
Kind regards, Gus
