Happy New Year
on: January 01, 2021, 05:56:37
My way of saying Happy New Year! to you all!

I just completed this. I programmed the drums, playing in all instruments as vst.

It's an interesting track, may be at some moments the mix seems a bit messed, all the instruments being the lead.. but it's my appreciation on the headphones.

Merry Christmas and stay safe

Very different from what I was expecting.  Very interesting arrangement too.

The only thing I hear with the mix is that it feel a bit harsh in the midrange in places. Maybe a couple of db cut at around 1-1.5k might do the trick?

Happy new year to you as well @Timothy Smith

Nice.

I like the vibe and I like the "shades of new years past" set to the happy celtic jam.
I like the artwork that shows up when I click the link.
I love the journey the song takes.
I like tye instruments on both sides of my head and the width of the mix.

I don't like fake sax.  .... I do have to say this the most realistic vst one I've heard. It's actually possible what it is playing and the timbres of each register work so maybe with an ewi or other wind controller this could be the one. With a wind controller you might be able to get the articulations correct.

I like it, warts and all.
There are more things I like then that I don’t like.
Thank you for posting this fun track and a happy and healthy new year to you and yours.

Hi Tim @Timothy Smith,

That snare is a bit too dominant for my taste. Indeed I wonder if a more organic pulse like Bodhrán or other hand drums might have worked better.
Despite that, an enjoyable romp of a track and a fitting way to start the New Year, upbeat and proud.

Thank you for your comments. I haven't used drums in awhile other than percussion so I thought I would be a little different here. I used BFD 3 and am beginning to like it. Ironically I also picked up another drum program thinking it would be easier for drum simpletons like myself and decided to program/edit existing patterns here which seemed to work. I do love Bodhran drums!

Thank you Gus. I try not to take myself too seriously. So warts and all sort of fits. Happy New Year :)

Hi Bill

Thank you!  I used a sax called sensual sax made by Embertone. It's around 20.00. I don't generally like fake saxes either, but I was drawn to this one in particular. It has a sex knob that increases things happening with the effects and some unique articulations. Happy new year to you and the family. I hopes it's better than 2020.

I like it, warts and all.

I think I know what you are referring to about the parts. I tracked two parts. One flute and one sax. I kept them out of the way until about 2/3 through. At that point I decided they meshed, but is easy to get that feeling if you don't hear them as playing together.

Have a good new year Mora!
