Yes, I’ll admit to having missed this and not knowing it until now that you posted a new one.
Do I hear a faint Bram Tchaikovsky echo @Macker71165 ?
If so that would be great since I am a real great fan of thatband.

So in short: I like it. Being slightly shoegazish, I would sink the voices in the guitar mud.
I would like it even more if you’d listen to @Mora Amaro La Loba and Ruby and @LePlongeur ’s posts. To name a few.

I don’t know about Liverpool, but in Amsterdam it goes like this: if you’ll greet no one, you end up with no one greeting you. You dig?

Enjoy!
Kind regards, Gus

@Macker71165  welcome back Tony Mcvey ! Your new song Imagine Marie sounds wonderfully fresh, daring rock and honest music!
Can agree with @LePlongeur  - by lowering the vocals a wee bit you could achieve an even better band-feel, but that is just a mixing thing. From a Songwriting point of view I would say this is perfect.

Posting the lyrics could help us non-English folk, merci-gracias-danke :pompom:   :praise:

"You dig?" That's a Dutch saying @LePlongeur  ?  ;D Ha, ha
Maybe like "graaf je?" ... "Ja, jij graaft."  :shinyteeth:
When I get lost in the Amsterdam airport you know who I'm calling.   :shinyteeth:
I'm Bill and I'm just a normal guy.

You can laugh all you like @Bill , you’re more than welcome.
But since this Mack is from Liverpool I thought to treat him to a 100% American expression. And if you’ll dig into your own history and language you’ll find traces of these ideas.

The idea that a lot of types of giving make me richer is from the diggers movement. And to some extent I still practice that philosophy.

In many cases Amsterdam is but a village. And I organised that the vegetables that were thrown away by the vegetable auction, were put in a cargo bicycle (bakfiets) and brought to the Prins Hendrik- and Jodenbuurt where there was still a lot of poverty in 1968. And that food was given away.

The shop, where the Tim Buckley recordings were made, didn’t have a cash register. The idea was that you bring what you don’t need and you are free to take what you want/need.
But of course there are limits to that idea.
You’ll dig that. Of course you understand. So can you dig it equals liking or understanding.

In American. When we didn’t have hamburgers in Amsterdam, we had diggers.
It’s not entirely a surprise that you posted a question, while macker didn’t.

À Dutch expression is ‘klapvee’. Busloads of people, only brought in to applaud when the song is over. ‘Vee’ (rhymes on OK) can be translated as cattle. And klap (ik klap) is applaud.

So, this post is about American language and Amsterdam history.
Funny huh?
I think so.
Kind regards, Gus
