Sorry for having been away for a while. I've been quite occupied, and I simply borrowed time to do what I like to do best, which is making music. I hope you can appreciate this progrocky, punky, new wavy sort of song. Possibly the style makes me think a bit of Japan on their first album, but that was unintentional.

https://soundcloud.com/pleudoniem/the-14th-parade

Here is the lyric. I am curious to hear what you make of it:

The 14th Parade

We came in
Second place
Of the last thirty first
Who were fifth in a row
Of the 13th parade

That was held on the
15th of May
Closely ranked seventeen
On a limitless list

With another nineteen
That we’d watched in the day
From eleven o’clock
To close to two.
And a million more raindrops
Rang in thousands of voices

I just reckon
It all figures
I just reckon
It all figures
The numbers add up
The odds are even

The root of the matter is
If you look at it squarely
Minus four all for one
For the 14th parade, that

Will be held on the
16th of June, and
That will hand twenty-one
To aid the addition

For another umpteen
To be watched, quite remote
For 24-7, and 366
And a million more specks
Wetting thousands of voices

@Pleudoniem  - the lyric is a riddle, and I must admit I haven't got the foggiest idea what it is about.
The lines: it all figures  and  the root of the matter is - suggest there is  a solution to the riddle.

The root of the matter could be a million more 'specks' (virus?) could wet (infect?) a thousand more voices (people?)///

Will be keeping my eyes on this thread to see  if fellow kitchenfolks can decode the text. @smajor  - what do you think?

Enjoying this listen. The lyrics are definitely a bit enigmatic and I will be listening again later.

This is definitely an @Pleudoniem song. You are always true to your style.

I listend to the song and there was 3 things ( beside the challenging lyrics ) that got my attention :-)

1. Its 100% yours  i would  recognize as Pleudoniums among hundreds! of other songwriters  :)

2. I like how you sung  it  enthusiatically also , but mostly i got caught by the r eally cool   8) nstrumental parts between the singing parts

3. Althgough im just still a new kitcheneer i awared that this song is much more 'clearer' as other songs I heard from you, it is as you have a  certain focus  here that you are going for very straight what is really pleasant to me, compared to other songs of yours where I feeled kind of oveerwhelmed and highly distracted from so much different aspects you brought up.
This song here is a 'round thing' to me.  :D

Sorry for poor explaining.......

@Dutchbeat Yes, you are very right. I've added the label New Wave as well. Remember it made me think of earlier Japan sometimes? They were then labeled New Wave, even though we now think of them as having their own style.
@oorlab The title may be a hint. Meaning can be other than semantics or pragmatics.
@Leonard Scaper There are more in the Ktchen who have a very distinct style. So do you. As long as it doesn't mean that you are in perpetual resonance, I think t is like getting to know a person and the expectations of the next meeting that will arise from it.
@Mo Thank you. I am always toying with interacting melodies and patterns and scales. Some work, some work less, but I think that is what may make them sound dense to you. You hear this in groups like King Crimson and the Trey Gunn band as well, so I think it may be indicative of a style. I don't think there is any less of that in this song, so if you perceive it as such, I am interested to know why you think this.

That's indeed an interesting question that i can't reoply yet as it was just a feeling about, but i will pay attention from now  what may could do a difference to me.

The introduction has enchanted me, it has that casual touch of a caricature  ... ::smiley::
When your voice appears, the curtain that describes the scene opens ... ::thumb::
I like the effect of the voices that appear from time to time ...
The mix is balanced and I love the bass ... I learned to play the bass ...
Good track ... Given my mind elucidating I hope not to start counting numbers ...@Pleudoniem

I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

@Mora Amaro La Loba The bass has occasional chords in it, which give a sliding, almost fretless effect.

So you learnt to play the bass, didn't you? Are there any songs on which you do this? I am curious.

Hi @Pleudoniem, ....just like @oorlab i am still wondering what the lyrics are about. i gave it some thought....the 14th parade...  ::) ::) ::)...may 15th?...but i have have not come up with a potential solution  ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
can you give a hint? has it something to with....something like...""priemgetallen" [prime numbers]? i mean something mathematical? or something with strange dates like "schrikkeldag"?????? ::) ::) ::) (you mention: 366...as in 366 days in a year?)

i know ... @oorlab...

but we still have not poked @Pleudoniem out of his studio enough....to give us some more clues...
...perhaps sprinkling some wine gums ...just a few...
...in front of his soundproofed kitchen studio door
will help...

@Pleudoniem

I like the space you've given the instruments. It's great to be able to make out each element.

The me the lyrics are a conducive to a discussion had at the table of the mad hatter's tea party. The people/animals just came back from a rally to stand up for whatever and now they're discussing why something did or did not work. haha

There's a nice theatrical touch to your work. Well done!

@Dutchbeat I cannot be bribed - I think, but who knows... Besides, you know as well as I do that winegums are weapons of war.
@Monty Cash Music Yes, a thought of Lewis Caroll did spring to mind when I was writing it, and you are thinking in the right direction. I will give you a hint: Looking Glass.
I will also give @oorlab an extra hint, something that may ring familiar from something I told him in person over a cup of tea: TS Eliot is having great fun.
