Inspraakprocedure

Ref I
Jaarlijkse afspraken
't polderen van Schiphol
daarna gaan ze gwoon door
sinecure

Ref II
Witte boorden crimi
inspraakprocedure
Hans' ongekozen macht
burger moet bezuren

De tijd van ja-knikken
de Kamer buiten spel
niemand glooft Alders meer
dus wie nog wel

Den Haag blijft kritiekloos
Minister! regeren!
te lang gwoon hun gang gaan
het tij keren

Polderen dat werkt niet
vrijbrief uitvliegroute
luchtvaartsector lobby
Anders moeten

Moet een poot stijf houden
door bewonersgroepen
de hoogste tijd dit halt
toe te roepen

Hans Alders moet wijken
wrom buigen voor die clown
prepare for landing crew
het wordt touch down

W8mrt2019

Vriendelijke groet, Gus

Participation Procedure

Ref I
Annual agreement
ĎBout Schipholís procedure
Business as usual
Itís sinecure

Ref II
The white collar crimi
Public consultation
Hansí unelected might
Fairy tale creation

High time for the yes men
The Hague out of the game
No one supervises
Guess whoís to blame

The Hague uncritical
Minister, you must rule
íT has gone ahead too long
The ship of fools

Participation stinks
Licenced routes are pure shit
Aviation lobby
Is out of it

Must stick to arguments
The resident groups ache
Itís high time this will stop
Our health is at stake

Hans Alders must get out
I wonít bow for that clown
Prepare for landing crew
Itíll be a touch down

Distichon
With no time to recover
Our health will suffer

WEnglish 17dec2019

Did i hear someone ask for a protestsong?
This one's identical to the Dutch version. Except for the English lyrics of course.

Schiphol (Amsterdam Airport) causes much noise and pollution and health issues in the most densely populated part of NL.
Hans Alders (former 'politician') pays the mortgage by having made up an Agreement between Schiphol and the representatives of the people living there.

The tools to check if Schiphol and the carriers live up to their promises is not accessible for the representatives, so guess what? I think I have a fair idea where the agreement goes after it's signed.

This is what this song is about. Including nagging repetition of the Choruses. To hammer the message home.
Enjoy nonetheless.
Kind regards, Gus

I absolutely LOVE how...heavy...your stuff always is, Gus @LePlongeur . Seriously. I can feel those guitars in my bones.

@LePlongeur It reminds me a bit of Trockener Kecks and The Scene, also for the social content. I completely understand your disillusion with what has been happening. I also understand @Charlie 's comment that the words are so heavy that they may not be as sticky as you'd like them to be. My first impulse would be to find a narrative hook, a catchphrase, and add it. The song itself is very good, the atmosphere and the genre are quite apt for the topic it deals with.

Thank you very much @Charlie , @Leonard Scaper and @Pleudoniem .
Yes, itís a rant and rave. Yes it well documented and yes I live very close to the airport.

I cannot stress enough that there is a line between biographical (where thereís a person talking who calls himself ĎIí and auto biographical where the I person is actually me.

I have no serious expectations about the effects this song shall have.
I am as a writer way past the best before date, which gives me all the freedom to rant away all I like.
And writing is about freedom and empathy after all. I donít have to be under the bridge to know that itís better to stay away from dope.

My songs are about reckless partying and social comments. And I must say that I like that a lot.
I find Ďshe had flowers in her hair, flowers everywhereí (Cowsills) far more disturbing.

Chances are that our ideas about how to make lyrics thatíll go down in history differ in the years to come. And I canít see myself making a serious swing in the direction of mainstream.

Secretly I like it a lot if Ďartí provokes different opinions.

Thank you for your time and for your posts.
Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur That is completely understood. You mention the classical difference in literature between the writer and the persona he creates. After all, Tolkien invented Hobbits, but he wasn't one himself - I think. There are theories that Walt Disney was in fact a giant mouse, though...

I was only thinking about the impact, because my wife's parents live close to Schiphol as well. They don't complain very much, but others there do, and they have good reason to do so. So, if you feel as strongly as you present yourself in the lyric, then that would be quite understandable. It would make it quite understandable as well if you wanted to cause an effect.

I completely agree that ideas about lyricking change over the years, even if some styles may be quite consistent. Of course you can always borrow ideas from older (poetic) styles, or invent new ones. You should be free to do as you please when you write them. I think we agree there.

My dear @LePlongeur ,

Over the last few years I learnt to like your songs one by one. 'Learnt' because you hardly ever gave me an smooth entry. It's never easy listening or reading. You have such a brain teasing, gusonian approach to poetry, music, vocals and recording. I would not want to miss one of your uploads. And you are right: writing is about freedom. And it may or even must be disturbing. That's what I learnt above all when I was writing my novels. Dare!
The Inspraakprocedure is meant to be a protest song and it is! A strong social comment. Just because of that I would wish your message ('herhaling maakt de boodschap waar') a large audience. But please, keep swimming against the mainstream - you possess the required mental musculature - even if harsh reality shows again and again that we all end up in the vast sea of history.

With lots of empathy,

Charlie

@LePlongeur - agreed with the sentiment , and thumbs for the music. Good to have a song in Dutch on the Forum. Ithink the lyrics you wrote down are not those actually sung? But never mind, the message is clear.

Yes I do @oorlab , mas y menos.
You may have been listening to the English version while reading the Dutch lyrics perhaps?
Over altered the intros to that extent.
Thanks for listening though.

Hi Gus, listendthe track again in the morning :-)
Although I don't understand the words very well over the rather long play I was pretty busy to listen to the nice sound you did .
i really like that sound that seemes a bit dusty at first but is so full and strong at least creative arranged. I love the last tone at thge end modes what talk all time it needs to fade.  Its just beatuifull.
I thought either that you are a nice backgroundsinger in this track too. ;-)
Have fun and please share more!

Thank you @Mo
The last tone is a bit of a tradition with me. If a song is in Dmajor, as most of my songs are, it will end with a flageolet on all 6 strings. The Apple mafia don't recognise the word flageolet. On a guitar there are dots as a rule. On these places you can make a flageolet by very gently laying your finger against the string without touching the fretwork. Then there is a higher not than the one you get by pressing the string down.
One exception: The octave.

If the words are not clear, don't worry. Let the song carry your heart and then you're in the same place.
Thanks for trying again.
Kind regards, Gus

Hi @LePlongeur
I like protest songs ... I think there should be more ...
Your song reflects with simple words, a tremendous reality,
It has a direct style, and a rhythm in the phrases that reaches the ear.

Marcus and me have had a good time listening to you. Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, Joyeux NoŽl!!

Hey @oorlab , nice one!! And great to hear it in 2 languages, one of those being my native language!
Klinkt goed in het Nederlands man!! ;-)
Maar alle gekheid op een stokkie? Heb jij geen last van vliegschaamte met al dat gereis van je? ;-)
Grapje hoor..  ;D
Loved listening to both versions of this protest song, great way to get these kind of annoyances out of your system, doesn't it?
Great work!
