Is this one good enough to bother with?

I'm planning on releasing a few cover songs next year trying to attract some new listeners.
This is the first attempt. Not primarily looking for reviews (though any input welcome  of course) but rather just your first impression i.e. is this one good enough to bother with getting a license and all that has to be done prior to releasing it?

I had never heard this song so I just listened to the original......very strong song. I think it's a great cover choice for you as you also have a very emotive and strong musical presence.

What I like about this vehicle is that it brings out some of the more subtle strengths of your voice. You should definitely go for it.

An emotive song @Jambrains and this type of topical song might get more attention than say Sweet Home Alabama as it resonates with what is going on in the world at the moment.

so I voted Yes ... a good cover and your voice has the right sound for a song like this.

 

Not heard this song before so can't compare to the original but what you have here is really, really good. The fact that you have made a professional looking video to go along with it is brilliant as well. Good luck with your channel, it's a neat idea to do a few covers to attract people.

Yes, @Jambrains , it took me some time to figure that out.  But I maneged.
And yes it’s very much so good enough, but may I be the devil’s advocate?
Are you willing to pay enormous amounts just to use covers for the good cause?
Since 2018 There are rather strict laws in force to protect the copyrights of the composers. That they come up with protection long after the demise of such outdated way of earning doesn’t seem to bother no one.

I really hope your idealistic nature doesn’t do you in.....

I don't understand.. Is this a song for review??  I don't see anything in the title that suggests anything about a cover?  ..and even if it is (or will become) a cover, why would it be in this Forum?

Had to give this one another listen. I think doing a cover such as this can be a very creative exercise......get the juices flowing in a new direction.

 

@M57 , I have absolutely no problems with covers on our forum (unless the original artist has problems with that, in that case we'll remove the post). Imo @Jambrains is just asking clearly for help (asking for a yes or no) from fellow kitcheners in our community.

@Jambrains , I looove this song, beautiful! And I think it would fit your musical style perfectly. So a 'yes' from me, couldn't express that in the poll because it was already closed (although I WAS getting curious how a Jambrainified 'Sweet home Alabama'  would sound)!
