Remixed this for promotional purposes/ some indies to hear- request was to make verses' words more audible so I stripped off all harmonies in all verses leaving lonely root vocal- rare for me- used a notch phone filter to get lo-fi John Lennon Revolver effect too--
gives the lyrics methinks the "jaded" detached quality therein etc? also more contrast against lush chorus harmonies -- overall mix is better/ drums/ guitars/ neat panning & stereo guitar acid trip fun. brought up acoustics more in the little Paul McCartney bass doodle that Dan does before the heavy part(s) kinda Jimmy Pagey ish hopefully. whole song is in CGCGCE open tuning too like many Zep songs so a bit of a tip of the hat to longer Zep era songs / as well as Radiohead trip & Revolution 9 inspired intro with all of Georges creepy samples (SpedheD) and noiZe tracks we worked on together- I'm playing Frere Jaques and Bach's Minuet In G Major in intro before/after AM radio station surf ;p

Alan: drums | Dan: bass | George: SpedheD, percussions, samples, analogue sequencing | Daren: electric and acoustic guitars, vocals, piano, harpsichord, MIDI sequencing

JADE
? 2013 Music & Lyrics by Daren Thomas Turner / MRI

Behold a dawning sun that withers from a falling sky
Beyond the universe and buried under sands of time
A fleeting glimpse of others born into a world I see as nothing more than early graves and lack of honesty...

Please feel my jade...
Please feel my jade...
Please feel my jade...

There are things in me that you will never understand
Across a dark abyss without someone to hold my hand
A river Styx is just the first of many deeper streams that flow beneath my soulless body draining out of me...

Please feel my jade...
Please feel my jade...
Please feel my jade...

All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear

Watch the clock laugh at the minute and the second hand
Every hour wounds: the last will kill you where you stand.
Hell is just an after-thought up in a Dante's view
Behind the 7th level lies the things (you thought) you'd never do...

Please feel my jade...
Please feel my jade...
Please feel my jade...

All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear
All the things you hate and fear
Crawl beneath your skin, my dear...

Hi Daren,

I'm flicking between the two versions as i listen. The new one seems quite a bit cleaner and brighter. It's a big thumbs up from me - even though i only have small hands ;D
What was a great song is now simply awesometastic.
The more exposed vocals sound fine - opens the whole track up.

I think it's genius.

Cheers,

Digger

Hello Daren
It seems this is another cool and well made track.
But for me it's a bit too experimental. To feel comfort I need music which is melodic wise very soft.I'm a softy and no rocker. ;D

Bleedin' hell! this must have taken some time to record......the debt owed to late period Beatles is obvious but that doesn't stop it being a very impressive piece of work. The vocals on the chorus are beautifully done and I would have preferred it if you'd carried that sound through to the verses which I had real trouble understanding. I am not a fan of grunge guitar so would have preferred less of that but that's my taste.

This is pretty deep stuff and does reward a close listen. I thought this line in particular was excellent: "A fleeting glimpse of others born into a world I see as nothing more than early graves and lack of honesty..." Bleak but impressive writing. It's never going to crack the top 40 but it has real depth and density which has to be applauded.

WOW! that was quite the trip :o :o and I loved every minute of it :) even though grunge isn't something I normally listen to, I thought it was tastefully executed in this song :)

The lyrics are heavy indeed and very good and need to be paid a lot of attention  8) I particularly liked the ending "the problem is an inner one"  :)

You've done an amazing job all round on this IMO  :) :)
