July Contest Submission - Rachel D Cover

Tried to keep the original feel of the song, which was really nicely sung by Rachel. Have a few more days to make some edits.

(Hope she doesn't kill me for butchering her song)  ;D

I like the vocals a lot, particularly the harmonies.....definitely gives the song a signature. Also like that guitar at the end......but the vocals behind it clash a little.

I just listened to @Rachel_D 's original. You kept the feel of it @denovo while making it your own.

What a nice surprise to get to listen to your cover today :) It made me smile as i listened to it. Ilike how you went about it and I really love the instrumental parts.

It's interesting how you sang the first verses at the harmony parts - those are sounding really good. And I liked how this is followed by a short instrumental section.

Next verses: I love the harmony parts once again and I particularly  liked how you sang the lyrics they're  clearly audible they feel like theyre falling in place and one can really appreciate them this way :)

1:26 - Without you chorus -  your staccato approach is interesting. Though for me it is sounding too 'happy' because the lyrics are quite serious at that point.... it's sort of the climax where one is fully realising that he/she has lost someone very close/dear to him (and by lost I had death in mind -as I had written this song after I had watched the news (where a number of people had suffered a harsh loss due to war) and I was so struck by that feeling of sudden unexpected loss that it made me write a song.... However, I guess the lyrics can be interpreted in a less drastic manner and your cover would still fit in well in that case.

It's interesting how you repeat 'everytime' - that works nicely.

Re ending : I like your guitar however I agree with @Leonard that the vocals are clashing + they are not 100% in tune. So that could be a part which could merit some more refining.

...it was great to listen to your cover :)
Thanks for choosing to cover this song :) and esp  for your fantastic instrumental :)
Karma for you!

Hey @denovo , I loved this work! Very nice bassline and great voice/harmonies!
Good lead guitar tune as well in the 2nd half!
I had the feeling the drums and bass were not exactly in sync and playing in different spaces, a bit of mastering reverb to glue both together sonically might help to solve that.
I'd also add a bit of that same mastering reverb to the rhodes/keys. Just enough to NOT hear the reverb. Should be very subtle.
To avoid clashing of the leadvocal and the harmony vocal you could try to pan the harmony vocal 5% to the left or right, that may help. But to be honest it didn't disturb me as is (but that's just me, we all listen differently so there's no right or wrong).
Interesting listen, I'm very impressed!

Some pretty good ideas in there, well done. ::headphone::
I'd consider some retakes of the falsetto vocals at the end. I like them, but they're a bit out of tune...

Liking the sound of the vocals - very clear and well sung. The drums though kinda hide too much, like someone is playing them in another room.
