La Gitana - The Gipsy Woman

This song is a portrait of someone real and although I have given it certain fictional colors it perfectly fits who I describe and who I think about very often from my heart.
The base is very elaborate in terms of guitars because Marcus collaborated with me introducing bass guitars, arpeggios, rhythm and melody on what was already in the backing, thus giving the song the warmth of the real instruments.
I hope that what I am telling you today makes you feel something.

a lovely song again. reminds me a lot of those paintings from the sixties, gypsy girl with a tear in her eye. except for these paintings were so kitschy, while your music is absolute class.

El Rocío is celebrated every year in Andalusia, it is true, thousands of people come together from all over Andalusia until they congregate in a small village "El Rocío" to see the Virgen de la Paloma. They do the way as you have described, bordering a wonderful landscape, a natural reserve El Coto de Doñana. (Religious beliefs move mountains, it seems to be)

I have lived among gypsies in Granada, in a cave in Sacromonte. There I met many gypsy families, I got to know their caves, their way of life and their way of thinking. What I liked was the respect they feel for their elders who are the authority that guides their actions in many cases, and what I did not like was the machismo, the feudal behavior with respect to women ...
But those are things that also exist in what we call modern civilization, ¿modern? where many women continue to die daily from sexist violence ...

I became friends with a gypsy woman who at 19 already had 3 children. He wanted to escape with me and told me: "Mora, you and I can go around the world with my cart, the mule and my children and earn a living." At that time I made a living painting on the street floor ...
But all were dreams in her head ...

I also met a famous character called "El Diamante" who was dressed as for a Safari with his Salacot and glasses without glasses and who made a living going to the yet parties where he was invited to tell stories ... What times!
