Hey @IsleofSkye , yeeeeeaaaah you made it!! Coool! Thanks for your efforts to get this track to the finish line in time (after all trouble with your DAW you faced).. I was glad to read a very generous kitchener helped you out!
Wow you transformed the song instrumentally, that sounds different! But you kept the original chord-progressions, so it was easy to hear the original from @Leonard Scaper that inspired you.
If you'd be looking for focussed feedback, let me know!
Glad you made it!

Hey @IsleofSkye yeah we're here because of the fun!!
Great to read you're here to learn as well, and although nobody speaks the 'truth' (it's all subjective) I'd say the main pointer would be to closely review the singing melody in relationship with the chord progressions.
I'd suggest this expiriment:
-Let's use the instrumentation you already have, but mute the vocal melody line for a while.
-Try to play the melody on your keyboard. Don't mute this one.
-Then do a re-take of the vocal and sing along with the melody you just played on the keyboard.
-When recorderd, mute the keyboard melody track as well so we only have the initial instrumentation and the new vocal take
Promise you'll do that?  ;) It's always okay to update the original song (even whilst voting).
Cheers man, so great you made it!

@IsleofSkye This is a great little piece.  I believe the songwriting and arrangement speaks for itself, loved the wood accompaniment, especially when playing after the vocal lines.

Hey @IsleofSkye this is a neat arrangement with some innocence and urgency in the delivery. You sort of "Owl City-ed" it and that's kind of cool.  :)

btw @Mar T. that (mute, keyboard, un-mute) trick up there is a good technique. I wish I thought of it. :)

Thank you for the feedback everyone!! @Mar T. I tried exactly what you said, as well as made some adjustments to the mix to get clearer vocals. Thank you! https://soundcloud.com/user-939439320/where-is-my-highway
