just having fun, half the fun is writing
In the wind

https://soundcloud.com/user-745253707/in-the-wind

V1
She went down to the water one day,
might have met Her a captain and sailed away.
We get these letters every once in a while..
She is always somewhere....coming home...

Chorus:
She`s on the run till She finds out
what She`s living for....until  then...then...then...
She`s just in the wind..

V2
They saw Her on the outskirts of town,
Her hair wild and free,
all the windows cranked down, She`s not stopping
till all said and done..down the road again.

Chorus:
She`s on the run till She finds...
what She`s all about....until  then...then...then...
that girl`s in  the wind..

Bridge:
She will Sail away..drive all night...
every boy would like to have Her back.
but its done...She`s long gone..

Chorus:
She`s on the run till She finds out
what She`s living for....until  then...then...then
The girl`s in the wind..

tag:
until then...then....then  that girl`s in the wind.

2.]   Love like that

verse:1
history has its famous lovers
every girl had her knight in armor.
a Cinderella, or a Cleopatra
finding love forever after...

chorus:
Don`t you want a love like that
a storybook ending, going down in history.
 a matter-of-fact
don`t you want a love like that.

verse: 2
Mary ann, loves Jimmy ray
carved a heart in that old oak tree.
They ran off to be together
still hand in hand Fifty years later

chorus:
Don`t you want a love like that
You and Me baby", running wild.. being free,
 a matter-of-fact
don`t you want a love like that.

bridge:
Every love is a different story
hearts can wait, or love forever...

verse 3
little Bobby, and the neighbor Jenni
they were so in love, and then she moved away.
whats the chance they`d` never marry
and find each other in store one day.

chorus:
Don`t you want a love like that
a storybook ending, a  Romeo chasing Juliet
 a matter-of-fact
don`t you want a love like that.

 a matter-of-fact
don`t you want a love like that.

don`t you want a love like that.

Nicely produced.  A bit on the slick side with the canned drums and all with not a lot of dynamics with a constant wash of sound, but good clean playing.  Nice, simple but effective mando playing.  Did you play the pedal steel?  Don't tell me that's a virtual instrument 'cause it sounded pretty darn real to me.

RE: the lyric.. The ship metaphor gets crossed up with the car story for me.

I think think there are a couple of places where the harmonies don't fall in with the changes.  At 1:40 where the BVs are holding a Db chord as the band moves to an Eb chord really sticks out to my ear. Nothing wrong with a Db/Eb dominant structure, but someone in the band is playing a G natural and the resulting minor 9th with the Ab in the lead vocal clashes pretty mightily.  Don't know if that makes any sense - I'm kind of a theory wonk.  Bottom line; let the bass go from Db to Eb and and have the band stay on the Db chord and it'll sound great.

All in all - pretty impressive.  I think it could use some work here and there but congrats on what you have so far.

Great writing. That first tune is nicely sung and well polished but I'm kind of partial to the second one myself.

@Lane Are you hinting there`s not much country music going on around here?
I like the more old style country of the second song.. maybe the slightly corny good feelings of the story just felt right!
Is that you singing & someone else on the first song?
You have a knack for writing catchy melodies-  choruses on both songs are evidence of that.
In the Wind being more of a Nashville production ( well that`s going by the last time Ilistened to modern country, about 20 years ago :bonk:)
I thought it could use more variation - very good sounding mando & pedal steel though.

@M57 ,  thank you for stopping by I  always welcome your comments.

I have a friend that produces these small tracks for me, so I`m not in the music here. vocal or music. #1
the advantage I have with the tracks, if I have any desire to change  the writing, or the complete content
I can.   I send Him the melody...He soups them up for me....lol  most of the small song I write just to write,
He always asked how important is this?....lol..and most the songs are little clips I keep in a folder.
I think I`m little better at the song if its real in life, if I just improvise  write I can get a wheel in the ditch pretty easy.

@Leonard Scaper ,
Thank you Stan
some of the early  stuff I did , I`m singing on #2  so its goes back a ways...lol #1 my friend sings
just a quick write and music, I don`t think it runs 3 mins, I`d have to check....lol

@robertkc
LOL..no! Robert, to tell you the truth I can only listen to a genre so long then I have to move to something different,.
but its always nice  to sneek a different in there...
I`m singing on the #2 song, my friend on #1
#1 WAS DONE ON A BOARD, and  #2 with session players..  your right Robert the songs are dated, they go back.
I think todays writing and country music are so progressed...But the dogs die, people stopped smok`n and drink`n
and pick-up trucks turned into a 4 wheel drive Cadillac
Thanks Robert for commenting and listening.

@Lane  - fine tracks, liking the breezy drive of Love like that.
"In the wind" sounds fine too. The other singer does cool harmonies. But you could do your own version? The mandoline is delicious. Very Radio friendly.

Any reason you post two songs in one thread?
And one on soundcloud, and one on youtube? Or is that just coincidence?

I like it when people stay close to a style and make some things that pop up in my head under the shower or on other unexpected moments.
I like that a lot. Itís not for nothing the Flying Burritos were voted band of the year 1970 in the Netherlands. A few rough edges here and there (yes, I believe your tunes to be a bit on the slick side) and you could fill the vacuum that we have since they left.
Kind regards, Gus

@oorlab
yes oorlab I can do my own version, won`t sound near as pro as my friend.
I keep all the sound tracks as well, for that very reason.
one is on soundcloud and one on u-tube, I didn`t make a slideshow made for "in the wind. no reason for the two
on the boards here, just drug a couple out and posted..more for people to listen mostly.
thanks for stopping by and commenting and listening.

@LePlongeur
