Love Again
on: January 10, 2021, 23:50:24
Hi all!  This one is a little different for me.  I happened to be perusing the interwebs and came across a beautiful instrumental piece posted by a fella out of the UK.  I had a melody in my head immediately and asked him if he wanted some vocal work done on it.  He enthusiastically accepted and I went to work.  Well, this is the result.  It is a song about lost love, which is pretty obvious in the lyrics I think.

Let me know what you think.  I really love this guy's guitar playing!

Love Again

Seasons passing and Im still thinkin
Thinkin aint done no good for me
where the wind blows, you will follow
When you come back here wont you love again
love again

blue sky sunshine no sign of mankind
birds softly singing in harmony
and we're in tune with the earth's vibrations
I so need to have that love again
love again

Now skies are cloudy and it leaves me yearning
Won't you please come back here and rescue me
The birds aint singing though Im listening
Won't you show me how to love again
love again

Seasons passing and Im still thinkin
and thinking aint done no good for me
where the wind blows, I know you'll follow
I hope it brings you back to love again
love again

Nice groove.  Solid musicianship. Your voice and the guitar playing remind me of the Doobie Bros.

Don't know if it's finished or in process, but here's what's on my radar.

Needs a bass.
It cries out for an electric guitar solo.
That crash on the left is a huge distraction.   I'm biased to be sure. sampled cymbals in rotation in a groove always sound cheesy to me. It also blooms late.  I would lose it completely.   I think a drum groove low on the kit  - Kick, closed hat and a tom or two and little if any snare and nothing up top would sound killer.

Nice stuff - the collab is a good call.

When I offered to do vocals on this, it was pretty much just a sketch from him.  Now that he has my vocal track, he is going to reshape it some and give some real structure.  I pretty much just fashioned my melody around whatever repetitious chorus-like riff I could find.  So it is definitely a work in process.  There is a backline there.  I can hear a very low, deep bass part in there on my studio cans, but it disappears completely in less than ideal speakers.  I agree with you on that right crash too.  Kind of random but I would be surprised if those parts don't get completely overhauled in his next iteration

I'll post more updates as they come to me.

Iím pretty much with M57actually.
And indeed a collab that shows great potential if you both keep it small.
Almost like a plea.
I am really curious about the outcome.
Kind regards, Gus;

@Knate I really like this sound. It's rockin' but it's not too heavy or intrusive. And it is a very cool groove, indeed, as M57 pointed out. Great voice, too. Keep up the good work. If this develops will check back in. - Gary.

Love it! Still being worked on - put me down to listen again? Funky guitar and ace vocals.

Today I'm only one day older. Do you think my hair's turned grey?
