money - love
on: November 18, 2018, 15:45:45
I wrote this, must have been three or four years ago.
A fast and heartfelt write, I think it'll always be one of faves

Do give it a listen and let me know what you think, or what you might have  changed.

money-love, makes a whore of us all

I think this ol' story might be yours

'makes me feel like them other freelance outlaws

y'know this old story could be yours

                       --------

promising a world to win or lose

catch them unawares when they are young

get them drunk on desire, keep them on the run

under the thumb, n' yet still so young

money-love, makes a whore of us all

I'm not above   the struggle of   money-love.

                     ---------

slight of hand, the cheapest of tricks and

interest to cash in on your prime

and woe betide, should them payments fall behind

y'know this here story could be mine

money-love, makes a whore of us all

I still think this ol' story could be yours

                   -----------

'want t' talk 'bout that what makes me sick

I'm not above   the struggle of   money-love

Sounding fresh @Rightly - love the arrangement woth the rhythmic acoustic guitar and vocals.
I would spread the sentence "a whore of us all" a bit more over the chrods. Are you planning to do a new recording?

Good lyrics and a very live sounding recording make this song stick nicely.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

Well @Rightly  , I'm not the best to comment on this as this style is far removed from what I do or usually listen to, but I listened to it and I do like it.
I like the percussive use of guitar or guitars.
Not really sure exactly how it is done but it is pretty cool.

nice live feel to it, had to get me the lyrics (not so easy to understand, maybe my ears still toasted   ::Rachel::)
was worth  it.

Thanks for the comment
I'm not sure if I'll record it anew (I seem to appreciate this recording more these days)

I will brush it off, when I hit the live scene again.

Always a fan of "singer/songwriter.  it always a pleasure to hear different songs and styles here.
I thought the song held on a little to long, but I enjoyed it all, nice work..

@Rightly I like the  edge in your voice , matched by that percussive strum style. The lyrics are raw and to the point  -  brings to mind  Roy Harper, another potent commentator who could grab attention with just voice and guitar.
