Music for my animated project Vector Owl

Here is something quite different. :-)

I've been messing around with Blender 2.92.0 and specifically the 2D Animation feature. One of the add-ons to Blender allows you to import 2D images as planes so I created a little character called Vector Owl and then I needed to create some music to go with the animated intro, all of 10 seconds in length.

If you want to see the completed animation it's on YouTube.

Instrumentation Used

Piccolo / Sousaphone / French Horn / Trombone / Woodblocks / Celtic Harp / Upright Bass

The sound of a Tawney Owl that is classed as Public Domain is used at the end of the track was sourced from www.freesound.org and is classed as Public Domain.

Footnote
Given the recent news I can imagine Dutchbeat would have approved of this and displayed marquee pom-poms  :-(

This is soo sweet!! The music is really fitting!! Are you planning on continuing the story of Vector? :)

(I'm missing his pompom smileys too!! It was fun when smileys were first introduced in the kitchen and DB always made sure to use them profusely!)

@MrBouzouki - liked very much the short form, and the animated character. Some years ago I read about Blender - that it was open source 3D video rendering software. Is it hard for the computer? Will you do more? keep it up!

Well @oorlab ... I would say it can have quite a steep learning curve and you really need to devote yourself to it for  while. The interface alone can be quite imposing. That's why I decided on a project to act as a focus for learning.

There are lots of videos and whole channels devoted to 3D animation in Blender  and since the 2d element was added in there are ones for them too. I thought it would be good to understand 2d animation to familiarise myself with the interface and maybe move on to 3d in future.
I must admit I find it fascinating.

It's great to think that free open-source software can be so good now that many professionals are using it.

The main computer load is in the actual rendering of stuff, you need a fair bit of power to render out frames in a reasonable amount of time.

Anyway,  I now have a better forest background after fiddling with some settings and I've learnt how to move my camera around the forest and zoom in and out. Vital for storytelling.

As a result here is the revised intro for "The Adventures of Vector Owl"

@MrBouzouki  - thanks for the follow up. The sky is the limit, with good open source. And a strong PC off course  :pompom:
learning curves once followed will give a great reward.
Who knows, if forums such as ours, in the future might get a 3D interface .
