New French Song
on: November 11, 2019, 16:41:59
Hello everyone,

I composed a new French song:  "Joue le Jeu" which means "Play the Game".  ::dj::
The French lyrics are in the description of the track on SoundCloud.
I have tried again to translate them in English. I wrote them below if you want to take a look at them.

The song is available here: https://soundcloud.com/mylenenelym/joue-le-jeu::Rachel::

I would love to have your feedback as usual   ::heart::
Merci beaucoup

Title: Play the Game

Lyrics:

Let time do its work
We have lost count of the battles
I know it may have seemed like an eternity
But what do you want ?
You'll get in trouble
Nothing is ever immediate
You think about giving up
Every meaningless day
Meaningless

It's never easy
You see the projects piling up
Always stay the course
It's okay if you spread out
They're already asking you
What you want to be when you grow up
Take a deep breath, follow my gaze
You're not forced to take
All the mapped out paths
Stay weird, go dreaming

Don't give up, hold on
It will serve you, you'll see
I know it's hard, you wish
You were a normal person
Don't be afraid of change
Knowing what you want takes time
Tell me where to start
I keep dreaming
Dreaming
Dreaming

It's never easy
You see the projects piling up
Always stay the course
It's okay if you spread out
They're already asking you
What you want to be when you grow up
Take a deep breath, follow my gaze
You're not forced to take
All the mapped out paths
Stay weird, go dreaming
Stay weird, go dreaming

Wait a little
Keep on
Play the game
Play the game

@Mylene - Merveilleux! agreed with @Dutchbeat - well sung. I like the pizzicato - a fine combination of a melodic and rythmic instrument.
At 2 miutes I hear some percussion - that could come in more forceful or clear.

Very nice @Mylene - really enjoyed listening to a song in French - your voice is very soothing as well.

The harmonies at the end work really well.

The mix (on my headphones) is very vocals based - so I'd only suggest bringing the instruments up just a little bit. But that could be due to my headphones rather than listening with speakers.

cheers

April March (USA) like me, is very much drawn to the Yeh Yeh repertoire. She covered or made English verses to a lot of those beauties.

This weekend, my niece and I leaved through April's recordings and celebrated an almost life long friendship against the background of her songs.

You brought back that wonderful mood with your song. It's so unmistakably French....
I love it that you posted it and I gave you my heart. SoundCloud-wise of course.

Lovely song, lovely lyrics, what more can we want?
Kind regards, Gus

I really like this song, i enjoyed your nice vocals very much.
There is a clear thread through the lyrics. They fit excellent with the mood and transport this positivity of encouragement to resist pressuring influence  from  enviroment . Just need stay by yourself with trust.

Thank you very much @Dutchbeat  :D
I'm happy to see that you enjoyed it

Merci @oorlab I'm glad you liked the pizzicato, I've found it during the recording  ;)
I agree with you, drums are one of my weaknesses and I need to improve in terms of mixing and mastering. Thank you for the feedback, I appreciate as usual  :ok:

I am glad you enjoyed the harmonies @Jurgen because it's something I am very new :P
Thanks for the feedback, it's true that the listening is different with speakers or headphones. I need to work on mixing and mastering.
For my next recording, I will probably use Pro Tools First. I will see how I can work more on this.
Thanks again for taking the time to give your feedback!

Whaouh! This is so nice @LePlongeur  :loveit:
Thank you for sharing this story. It makes me really happy.
I am glad to see that you still like French songs.
Thanks for the support on SoundCloud and for taking the time to share your thoughts.

Thank you @Mo for your feedback on the lyrics.
Happy to see it matches with the music  :)

Listening in my office early in the morning.......very nice piece @Mylene . I am enjoying just listening to your voice and feeling the song without really knowing the lyrics. I'll listen again now and read them in English.

I have to say that I love how you build the song at the end with those wonderful harmonies and then bring it back down to a very intimate place before the end.

Whouah thank you @Leonard Scaper
I am happy to see that you liked it even without knowing the lyrics

Yes I tried to create a crescendo which comes back to a calm atmosphere at the end.

Thank you for your feedback and your kind words as usual.
