New Song!! and im a new member on here
on: February 12, 2019, 00:46:23
Hi! I'm Amber, i'm 20 and I'm feeling really amateur after listening to a lot of the songs posted on here (which isn't a bad thing, I am super entertained and impressed by everyone in here). Also thanks to Dutchbeat for inviting me to the kitchen!! Everyone is so friendly and the environment is very comfortable feeling

This song I just wrote two nights ago very quickly..recorded very quickly..and posted very quickly so it in no way is produced beautifully or anything like that. I recorded it on my phone with just me and my ukulele :)  (and its only 52 seconds, so its a very short draft) Any feedback, criticism, or comments i would love to hear. or send me some of your jams too!!

im so bored of myself
unlike anybody else
and i do not understand the things that make me
different from you
but whats new?

in your world all alone
are you talking on the phone to someone new?
cause if you are
i do not care im just a little curious
i swear

im so sick of myself
unlike anybody else
and i can see
you are not
whats gonna change me
change me
i swear

Hey @1AmberRose1 , welcome to the kitchen! No need to feel amateurish at all!! Yeah ok, some of use are in to producing and making tracks sound huge.
I'm a big fan of the song concept. This is a very great basic your wrote here. I love the way you're singing this one. Lots of rhythm in your voice, and a lovely expressive voice to listen to (I'm a fan!). Haha love the sigh sound.
To me, the current package sounds like a fantastic intro (a verse) needing a chorus so desperately. I'd absolutely continue developing this one!
Thanks for sharing!

Ah, nice; ukulele, thatís great @1AmberRose1 .
I like your voice and the uke is great. Also because ití small. You can always take it with you.  If you were a harpist, that would be another matter.

And already I am convinced that thereís no reason to be so shy. Dutchbeat never invited me. I had to bribe the doorman to get in, but now Iím in, thereís no way to chase me out.

Welcome. And itíd love to hear more of that boss uke.
And of your songs.
Kind regards, Gus

Welcome to the Kitchen @1AmberRose1. I wouldn't be at all shy or feel amateurish since you feel the need to write and perform music.
That is a good thing as many people consume music but not many feed the need to create. This need to create  is the thing that draws us to places like this, so we can share, learn and grow.

The uke is a great instrument to compose on as you can get your ideas down very quickly, and as  Gus @LePlongeur said is very portable. Quite a few people on here do simple recordings with minimal instruments. @sully for example, often just puts up voice alone and we have a few people who use minimal instrumentation and rap to it.

Can I just say this song is beautiful, partly because the idea entered your head, you were inspired, and you recorded and posted it with no fear. So often, people come on here with that big demon of doubt sitting on their shoulder and saying, 'you can't sing', 'everybody will think it rubbish', 'I'll never be any good' etc. etc. but also because it just is.  :pompom:

You seem more confident than that so the key for you is to keep listening to yourself and record ideas as soon as they come to you. In this day and age it's easy with a phone. I used to have to try and keep song ideas in my head, sitting on a bus, miles away from any means of recording, in the pre-mobile days. I can't count the number of songs that have slipped through the net this way.

You might hook up with other musicians, locally, or even on here to make bigger sounding songs if you want, or you might be like some members on here who are songwriters first and not care about doing anything more then getting them  'out there'. The choice is yours but keep creating and posting, listening to others and perhaps learning on the way.

Have fun creating ... that next song is just out of reach ;-)

Hey Amber! This REALLY sounds good. You have a very interesting and memorable voice.....you are a naturally good singer, I think.

This little ditty of yours has massive potential. After that first "I swear"...and the pause....I was hearing a strong bass line...maybe a piano and even some tasteful guitar work, all with you still just playing that uke and singing.

You need to stay with this.   :)

Hi Amber,

Your voice sounds sweet and the uke fits great. The hardest part will be to add more lyrics. The souncloud audio could be a verse but a chorus as well (:

Welcome! @1AmberRose1

You have a totally personal style, fresh and spontaneous. I'm sure you could call the attention of a producer. Nice song  ::thumb::

Hi @1AmberRose1 Welcome to the kitchen!

Really nice song! The words are very relatable and the style is very contemporary.
Carry on, I say!

@1AmberRose1 I don't think amateurs don't exist in music, only people who love it and who are on the look for what they'd like to express. That song you posted sounds very good, you have a voice with great opportunities. Loved listening to it :)

@1AmberRose1 ...hello! I'm Kelly, and new too. Your voice is so pretty, and your inflections and style are unique. Keep workin it! You have a gift.  Your song is a fresh idea. Something that helps me is to read about song structure, and to listen to what I've written one day and then the next, and you'll hear things you may want to change, add, shorten, etc. Anyway, just sharing a few thoughts, but your voice makes me want hear more. Very nice!
Do what makes your heart sing :)

Hi @1AmberRose1 ,

Itís nice to meet you! Welcome to the kitchen! :D ... the great thing about this place is that everyone is good at different things... so do not worry too much about the fact that it was a 'quick' recording. I immediately relate with you, as Iím also one who creates many 50second songs and rough phone recordings. Itís nice to meet someone who creates songs in a similar manner :) Having said that, though not radio-quality polished, your recording sounds really good and your voice has a fantastic tone to it that takes the song to a higher level. I like your style a lot, and I love your ukulele playing :).

I look forward to listening to more from you 😊
Happy cooking!!
