Wow @Pleudoniem this is pretty cool!

This actually happened to me in real life you know. Okay, well not the going to Hades part...…  ;)
But the crow was literally knocking on my door! I woke up early morning from a deep sleep thinking someone's at the door.  :o  It was a crow standing there looking up at me and had a whole group of friends sitting up on the railing staring in. I, of course, didn't open the door for him.

Okay enough with this.

Very cool song! Nice lyrics & cool intricacies of musical arrangement. Good show!

@Bill from November Sound Haha! The song was partly inspired by Poe's The Raven, although my crow is slightly different in character and it carries a different message to the storyteller. There is a raven in Poe's classic that knocks on the poet's door as a ghost. If you hadn't read that one yet, then you definitely should now. Here is a link:

But I suppose you already know it :) If you did then, then I think it was wise not to open the door  ;D

I can imagine a note of the front door now :-

"NO RAVENS, Salesmen, cold Callers, Religious Groups "

This song is no surprise at all with a wordsmith like you. What a great irregular - almost jarring feel this track has.

Well done

And what if it doesn't seem to bother?  :D

Well  @MrBouzouki  I would say that crows can't read ... ravens, however, probably can.  ;)

Yes @Pleudoniem  I do know the Edgar Allen Poe classic. I was very aware of this poem but I did not think that it could happen in real life. I must admit I do live in the woods so that may make it all the more plausible.

I mean I'm no ornithologist ... it could have been a raven I suppose. But do ravens travel with a whole group of friends like that?

@Bill from November Sound No, crows are usually loners, but rooks travel in groups, as do many jackdaws. I am not an ornithologist either, but my wife is close to one. She can tell many birds apart from the songs they sing. When she tells me they do, I am inclined to believe her. I am not sure how that works for birds on the American continent, though. European rooks often perch in groups on branches in trees.

@Pleudoniem this is a great entry and I think using 23 magic words is impressive and to weave them in a story even more so. I like the “funk rock fusion solution” and the choruses especially. The solo is a little dissonant in places but still works and the rock guitars get me grooving. I tend to leave out the solos but this song urges for one so that’s a great choice still. Don’t think of this as a song to dance to, more of a lounge ready relaxing kind. (Well I’m not much of a dancer so I gotta like it )

@Layerson Yes, the guitar is slightly eerie and dissonant, but so is the character in the story, isn't he?  ;) I liked it better when it was slightly uneasy, so I've kept it that way. I am glad you liked the song :)

@Pleudoniem   Great bass lines and dark  magic in nature - this is good .
Not having listened before penning my entry, I`m tickled that there are now several members of the crow family of birds featured in the challenge... like minds  :praise:
Theres lots going on in the lyrics while the funk has me bopping...will listen again before the vote.
That Wallace Stevens poem is amazing -thanks for the reminder.

@robertkc Thank you :) Yes, I quite agree. Our crow-like friends have been moving about a lot in the kitchen a lot lately. They have been wonderful food for thought. This may be a kitchen, but let's feed on them in a harmless way, shall we? This kitchen shall be just to appreciate them for their magical over- and undertones :)

Which just makes me think... I haven't noticed the Eurasian Jay here yet. I ought to mention him as well, as he belongs to our beloved crow-ites too, and he stands out in comparison for its magnificent colours. Magical, if only for a second. Saw one today on my way home from work. Unfortunately, I wasn't in a position to stop and watch it...

And to the rest of you: I have been very busy with all sorts of chores that flung my mind onto a plate that I could not escape from, but I suspect I will have some more time to listen more closely to what y'all have posted lately.

Yeah, I know I already posted in this thread … but anyway …. this is quirky weird and crazy cool. I love it!
Good show!
