New Song - Something New
on: February 26, 2019, 17:44:53
Back again with a new song! This one's laidback, like most of my songs, an alternative style, so let me know what you think!

https://soundcloud.com/jed-long/something-new

Lyrics:
Try something new,
It wonít hurt to try,
Unless you donít then it might,
Try something new

Hold me close and listen,
Iíve got news for you,
Thereís things out there to do now,
Try and you might succeed

Try something new,
It wonít hurt to try,
Unless you donít then it might,
Try something new

Youíve been alone too long,
Maybe itís time to try,
Get up, get out, get moving,
Do stuff you might enjoy

Try something new,
It wonít hurt to try,
Unless you donít then it might,
Try something new

@JedLong

The title of the song already announces what it contains, difference.
I really liked to hear you, the melody is totally original, I would say unique.

It's true that your style is very relaxed but I think you should not repeat
"Maybe it's time to try,
Get up, get out, get moving,
Do stuff you might enjoy"

I get the feeling that it would be better without that repetition, I hope you do not bother with me for telling you this. Apart from this appreciation of mine, your song has entertained me so much that I have not even noticed the mix, but what can I say, it also sounds so personal.  ::thumb::

@Mora Amaro La Loba sorry for such a late reply, I've been out of the country! But thank you, I really enjoy trying new things with the melodies to try and create something different, so I'm glad you like it.
And I do agree with the repetition, I just couldn't work out what would go in the bridge section to fill it, and the verse lyrics were an easy option haha
Appreciate the comments!

Thanks for bumping this @Mora Amaro La Loba as I seem to have missed it.

As Mora so perfectly said, your title prepares us for this production. I like the vocal combination and the instrument mix....pretty cool outro as well.

Contrary to Mora's opinion, that repetition worked for me as it seemed to keep the song moving forward over the sometimes hesitant pace of the instrumentation.

I think the idea of the song is good and it's clear in principle
But the style of the arrangement has too many rhythm stops that do not help the song to get right to the people who listen to it
Good job  ::thumb::

@JedLong hello! This song is definitely unique. One thing I especially like is the contrast with repetition of your chorus. It gives the song adherence. The simplicity of your lyrics with the contrast of the instrumentation adds great interest. Very creative!

very nice combination of sounds @JedLong , that synth arpeggio sounds very cool, and the fx's on vocal are also great  ::thumb::

i agree with @Marcus Nalgaber , that the stops in the beat come in too often?

sounds very good  ::headphone:: ::headphone:: ::headphone:: ::headphone:: ::headphone::

Hey @Leonard Scaper thanks, glad you liked it, that's an interesting take on the repetition, I like that, I'll think about that for other songs with minimal beat.

@Dutchbeat @Marcus Nalgaber appreciate the kind words, and yeah I can see what you mean with the beat stopping too often, I was trying to amp up the chorus as the whole song is meant to be quite subdued, so having no beat in the verse made the chorus stand out, but I agree that I should've probably added in just a small beat or tempo keeper to keep the flow better like you said, I'll definitely keep it in mind for future reference thanks!

And thank you @Kellyanneg , glad you like the contrast of lyrics and melody, I really like creating something big in terms of melodies coming together and then having something simple sung over the top, thanks for listening!
