Hi guys,

I am sorry it took me so long to produce a new song again. I managed to comment on some of your songs, but I wasn't quite able to record anything myself. So here is one again.

It is a slow funky rock song with fretless bass. I also used the electric standup on this song, and bowed at that. As I am still learning to play the instrument, the melodies may be a little primitive, but it was nice as an experiment.

The song is called Playing Dodge Ball with his Cat. The HIS here is Schrodinger, the scientist of the famous thought experiment. I completely re-invented his idea to make it fit for something I ran into, quite remote from physics and string theories. My string theory was in fact flatwound. I hope you like it.

Hi @Pleudoniem ... I've just posted up "Funky Alice in Wonderland" on this track on SoundCloud and this just about sums it up for me.

Who said experimentation and interesting wordplay was dead ?

I particularly love the start on this one :-)

Good Job

@Pleudoniem very creative songwriting!
Here a few remarks.
The vocals sound a bit low and too reverby, to my taste. If you could put it up a bit dryer, it could get some Leonard Cohen like qualities..
The part
Here is the ball
Will you catch it
Here is the ball
Or is it
Or is it

sounds like a chorus.
The words You  & Here could have a longer melody underneath them. Now they are bit shortchanged.
cheers

Hi @Pleudoniem
The experimental always breaks down borders, opens doors and lets you stay at ease with your audacity, and music is the perfect driver to discover all kinds of possibilities.
I really liked the intro, the sound, the style, I think like @oorlab , maybe the voice could be more present... it's my personal taste, otherwise, your track takes me to a dream world and the melody has parts that hook you well.
As for the bass, I like it anyway, but being present.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

@oorlab @Mora Amaro La Loba I have lowered the reverb on the vocals a bit, and cranked them slightly up. See if that works better.

Wow.....nice funky stuff. Whatever you did to the vocals.....they sound great to me now.

Very alternative, but hey that's cool. They only thing that botters me, is the white noise.

@lynnalyx White noise? Could you tell me where in the song you hear any? If you can point at a time in the song where it bothers you, then I may understand what you mean.

I just listened to other songs and they all have this white noise so I guess my pc is dying.  ::phone::

@lynnalyx Ah, I am sorry to hear that :-\

It does explain a bit of your comment though, as you had me wondering there. Possibly I would have had to modify it a bit if the noise was really disturbing.

@Pleudoniem
I like the build up to the point where @oorlab calls it spooky.
Like it a lot!
Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur So is there something missing after the part where it gets spooky then?

My mediocre level of English causes troubles.
I am really sorry @Pleudoniem
I like it up to the spooky part and I love the spooky part and all that comes after that.
This what I meant to write anyway.
Next time I do a thorough check before I press ‘post’.
Sorry!
Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur Haha!  :D No need to apologise :) I was just wondering what you meant exactly. I guess it must be me, as it has been the second time in this thread that this has happened, but the first time ever in any thread.

No, @Pleudoniem (like Johan Cruyff used to say - or at least they say he said it) if I wanted you to understand it, I would have explained it better.
No reason to look for faults you could have made.
Kind regards, Gus
