No More Tears

Hi all!
A dark number from me for a change  ;D ..

Feedback welcome as always... vox vs piano levels in particular... but anything that catches your ears would be great... I shall be digging into some listening over the weekend...

I am numb
Iíve forgotten how to feel
I have become
An impenetrable shell of steel
I wonít succumb
To their appeals
They beat their drum
But I will not reveal

What goes on inside my head
I wonít be drawn, I canít be read
I have no more tears to shed
My oath is etched upon your grave
I wonít let go, I wonít be saved

I am alone
Itís best that way
I ignore the phone
I have no words today
If they think that Iím not home
Maybe theyíll go away
Cos they just want to know
What I cannot say

My words are only mine to hear
I made a promise I will keep
I close my eyes and youíre with me
For now I've everything I need

Final Chorus
What goes on inside my head
My visionís dull, my passionís dead
I have no heart, Iíve stone instead
My oath is etched upon your grave
I wonít let go, I wonít be saved

It's so good to hear you again @Zedd . Chuckling at a dark number from me for a change. You pretty much own the emotional territory that this song is in.

There is a wonderful sense of underlying strength in the face of darkness in a lot of your work .....and this one is an excellent example of that. The way you sing these powerful lyrics really pulled me into a place of steely determination to survive and even thrive no matter what I am facing.

I would bring the vocals up in the first verse and then see how you feel about the rest after that.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

to me this is a story of an undying love, a person trying to catch their breath after a loss.
really like the harmonies in this song. I`m not qualified to comment on the "tech end of things.
but to me it sounds good..     Lane

Thank you both for taking the time to listen and comment - very much appreciated!

@Leonard Scaper
Thanks a mill... I have lowered the piano a bit (I think too much but then again, I always do think my vox are too loud!).. Hopefully I haven't mucked it up :) Yes, I do tend towards the dark alright.. Thanks for your lovely words..

Thanks @Lane - l like the way you describe it.. catching one's breath... Thank you for your comments.

This is really good @Zedd - I like how it builds and how the vocals sound so determined (which suits the words)

The harmonies as well add some depth to the sound which is important as it's "only" voice and piano.

Lyrics are strong as well.

Nice one!

Hello @Zedd!!!! that is FANTASTIC   ::headphone:: ::headphone:: the piano is awesome...and so are the vocals

and...since you asked  ::) ::) ::)

i think the volume levels of the piano compared to the vocals are  excellent

the atmosphere of the song (and the piano at places) reminded me of Winter Kills from Yazoo

you could consider adding some low kick like sound with reverb like is done in that track? just a thought, but probably....better not because  this is a great song and mix as it is  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Gorgeous jarring piano at the start...wow! And your lovely, haunting voice is just so beautiful as always  :) This reminds me a lot of Joanna Newsom (who I love) so I am a big fan of this. Also the phrasing of 1:52 'maybe I'll go away' is really lovely - the way it disrupts the preceding lines is super interesting.  Beautiful all round!

Love it and - whatís more - Iíve managed to get a connection with the internet for long enough  to dip in into SC to like your song and performance.

I am too butterflyish too be depressed, but what I have seen from friends is that the moment they start writing it down, they are on the way back to being happy.

And I really hope that this is the case with this song. And with you.
Itís always a treat if you publish one. And I am not the only one loving it to bits.
Kind regards, Gus

first notes and I loved it,  listen until the end and still love it. The piano is so dripping of melancholy , very cool

Thanks so much @Jurgen @Alex (Iíll be checking out that ref thank you!!) @Dutchbeat @Chris Spruit You are very generous in your comments and I appreciate the listens and the feedback!

@LePlongeur thanks so much and Iím glad you got to listen :-). Donít worry though, yes a lot of my songs are on the theme of loss and grief but songwriting is my therapy.. in fact in one of my songs the line Ď...I write the words onto this page.....so I can walk awayí explains it well. So although the song is Ďunhappyí, I am not!! Enjoy your travels - I hope we get to hear something new from you soon!

Hola @Zedd

What bad thing could I say about this emotional song? None, it has everything it needs, the piano, your voice, the melody, the emotion with which you sing, the lyrics ... I love it when the other voice appears!!! But... I became sad.  ::heart::
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

Lovely @Zedd  :o

Cruel lyrics, well sung (extremely convincing performance...!)

The piano arrangement is beatiful and goes along the lyrics smoothly.

I imagine I could hear this in a radio show, with a music video or in any given playlist... perhaps even in a movie.

Like it a lot ::Hoss:: Thanks for sharing it.

The first notes say it all...

I love the piano and the mix of dark and sad feelings  ::smiley::

I agree with @Mora Amaro La Loba, I love when the second voice appears too  :)

I love the lyrics, sad songs are beautiful  :farewell:
