Ode To Calvin (A song about predestination

In the beginning not chance of winning. They said we were sinning Right from the start.
Danger danger danger... a serpentine stranger and his pre-arranger who keeps us apart

It's all preordained. All prearranged. Like a dog on a chain... limited range.

Lover lover lover lover lover, your skin's just a cover. Is there some other part of you I should know about.
Darkness came quicker, darker and thicker. Candles don't flicker when you're blowing them out.

It's all preordained. All prearranged. Like a dog on a chain... limited range.

In the beginning, they said we were sinning for questioning things we were led to believe.
I couldn't resist her. That's who I kissed her... the ongoing saga of Adam and Eve

It's all preordained. All prearranged. Like a dog on a chain... limited range.
It's all preordained. All prearranged. Like a dog on a chain... limited range.
It's all preordained. All prearranged. Like a dog on a chain... limited range.

I like the Floyd-esque feel of this - particularly the Gilmour guitar vibrato and delay... it needs something to give it some structure and movement though - a definite anchor to ensure that everything is in time. Bass and Drums. I am not sure about the effect on the main vocal - it sounds like a double track modulation - or a very tight delay / verb - but it makes the voice quite thin. It might sound better pulling some low end up in there.

But something great to build on and flesh out!

This is definitely in the very very good bandwidth.
And again an example of a very good way to secure a new song.
You give us no hint about what your intentions are.

Is this posted because the song needed to be written?
Do you aim to conquer stages around the world/stadium like?
Or anything between those two.

To me the singing sound just about great.
Listen to A Whiter shade of pale. The singing should give me a jolt . And they added and added echo to let me get accustomed to it all.
Points of polishing (to me) is the almost non existing bass and the part 'That's who I kissed her...'.

A no holds barred and courageous thing to write and post.
Nice!
Kind regards, Gus

Hola @CGHound

I enjoyed your song, the lyrics are really good, very good, any line is great, and the song took me dancing surrounded by the atmosphere you have created, so relaxing in the middle of so much happening  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Thanks for the input.

The song is demo quality. I did it in a friend's studio. He set up a vocal and guitar mic and I did 4 songs in rapid succession. There was no click track or bed track. It was all done in one take. I added a bass part plugged into the mixing console. My friend did the mixing and mastering and did the lead guitar part.

The drum was me pressing a key on a drum machine. We didn't put a lot of thought in the production. I may do another version.

I wrote it because I could never reconcile the notion of an all knowing god and free will along with the idea that all humanity suffer the biting miseries all because one woman didn't want to spend eternity as a thought slave massaging the insatiable ego of a tyrant who lost control of "Heaven" only to reward Lucifer and his gang the job of torturing humans for all eternity simply because those humans rubbed that tyrant the wrong way.
