Our Way
on: July 17, 2019, 15:33:27
Hello All, here is a new but still very old fashion love song.  Written and recorded 100 % virtual in corporation with a good old friend in our common retirement project. Thanks in advance for any feedback.

Tonight, my love oh tonight
see the moon is shining bright
On the path for you and me
we found a way to navigate
and to cross the stormy Sea
to find the harbor with the perfect harmony

Hey, Hey there
hey my love
can you hear me when I call
call your name
I hope to see you drifting this way
I will be waiting through all nights
and endless days

Kiss the world with a smile
feel how it change your life.
hold my hand tonight
let’s jump to see how friends
can touch the sky

Hey, Hey there
hey my love
I feel so good to have you here
next to me
all the rest of our life
please keep staying here with me.
for as long - as you can be

This song has a wonderfully large presence....maybe due to that great church organ main track. It's nice to hear a real "feel good" song like this.

well done!
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

Hey @Krysoe, there’s no such thing as old fashioned when it comes to music nowadays!!

Just listen to the theme song from Stranger Things, yet another example is anything by Uncle Acid and the Deadbeats, all the retro sounding 80s style bands like Bleachers... list goes on for ever.  ::headphone::

I’m arguing this sounds very up to date, but I’m probably skating on thin ice as it is according to some people, but that’s how it sounds to me. ::)

My point being that retro is always in fashion and this song is authentic and as such a great one. It may even have a little schlager feel to it (...not sure how that translates but you know, Eurovision style kinda) which just makes it better.

The Danes are always a force to reckon with, and I like this production, it’s very arm to arm swaying friendly.  :pompom:

Well... I had to hear this after reading the responses... what a great song! Beautiful sentiment well sung, well performed and well produced.

Really solid vocals and I can hear the emotion in the story telling.

I agree with @Layerson that this is not “old” sounding at all. A bit Retro but would not sound out of place on the radio today at all.

The only comments I have on the mix would be to carve out some frequency for the kick and snare and maybe add a bit of gain to the percussion ... a little drum fill here and there couldn’t hurt either. it will make the “Band” sound bigger. Also , a bit more gain on the harmonies... as is they sound a bit “shy”

Excellent work! Thank you for sharing 😎

I hammered the small heart at the bottom of the SC page.
Yes, I did. In spite of small doubts where the lyrics are concerned.
What do we want most from life:
- find a harbour with perfect harmony (for the Dutch: 't kleine café aan de haven)
- the real important things (for the Dutch: iets lekkers tussen de lakens)

It's up to you to decide, but even if I didn't speak Dutch, I'd know exactly what to choose.
Kind regards, Gus

Hi @Krysoe

Lovely! You have made a love song that sounds good from the beginning and that takes you through the ears to atmospheres full of the sound of then.
It has put me in a good mood.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

Dear All, thanks a million for your feedback it is highly appreciated, I will take any proposal to improve with me into my considerations for a next release. Process and production wise I still have a lot to learn at my little studio in the beach house south of Copenhagen and you all play an important role in this development.
Wish you all a great summer

I enjoyed the warmth of feeling coming across in your vocals @Krysoe . The organ fits the uplifting mood.
Thumbs up for the heart-on-your-sleeve lyrics ::heart::
I agree with @1roomstudio  -tweaking the drums would be a way to improve the big emotional sound .
