over the garden wall
on: February 04, 2020, 22:19:38
A new song from me.
I rarely get internet connection these days, (what with being in the slammer n' all)
n' more seriously, I've missed you folks!

Wrote in a time of anxious uncertainty.
I'd lurve some feedback!

n lyrics:

over the garden wall

deconstruction of smaller parts
we're breaking it down once more
with shorter skirts and faster cars
we are filing for divorce
out through the window
to fly or to fall
will we land on our feet
over the garden wall...

moral compass is all askew
it's hard to tell wrong from right
pushing forward we get confused
now don't you cheat on my wife
shake off your slumber
abandon the dream
wilfully wander to
a place I've never been

the time has come to do or die
to give the devil his due
your eyes have died two thousand times
as each one has lived a thousand lives
each one, as each one
each one has lived a thousand lives

I'm not complaining
it's par for the course that's all
there's plenty to see
over the garden wall...

@Rightly - liking the modern electronic / classic pop combination.  The first sits in the sounds, the latter in the chord progression and melody.
Good to have you back. Looking forward what you're next music will sound like and hoping your connection will get out of the slammer.
The positive ending  can be a maxim for us all:
"there's plenty to see
over the garden wall..."

Cheers

Loving the lyrics on this one. It mimics a recurrent theme in much of what independent music is making at the moment. This acceptance of the hopelessness of the situation, it's a state to be reflected, not as a negative but as a simple stated fact.

Then, maybe we can have a hope of seeing what is really around the corner, over the garden wall, as you so succinctly put it.

This is another excellent tune from you. The instrumentation sounds lush and nicely balanced setting up your vocals perfectly for my taste, relative to how you treated them. This allows your lyrics to present just right....which is a very good thing with these lyrics.  ;)

I like that lightly distorted electric guitar that comes in at times on the right side.

Listening in the studio on my good headphones and this whole production sounds great.

Hola @Rightly

Happy to see you again here!!!
I like the calm you have given to the song, a strange melancholy for so hard lines....

I like a lot :

your eyes have died two thousand times
as each one has lived a thousand lives

Thanks. I listened to some pop music on the radio today. I try not to be judgemental. I was tired , it gave me a giggle. I never thought the 80s would be a golden era.
