power n' glory.
on: January 25, 2019, 18:21:33
I wrote this about 18 months ago, on guitar.
This is the cubase version
It's an unusual one for me.

Feedback very welcome.

The lyrics.

          power n glory

looking back through the prism of time
all them women who would undermine
        my mistakes
here in my head, n' under my skin
where on God's earth have I been
        until now
I'm gonna get up, and out, and let's go
plenty stories to be written, to be told

here in the shadows, I am in decline
I'll catch the light, mostly, anytime

  contemplating this prison of mine
        I realize that the enemy
            is my mind
all my business, n' my scuffed up shoes
who do I trust, hey, if not you?
        what's your name?
think fast, it need not last, I'll make it fit
thine is the power, the glory, the music

here in the shadows, I am in decline
I'll catch the light, mostly, anytime

I'm gonna get up, and out, and let's go
plenty stories to be written, to be told
think fast, it need not last and make it fit
mine is the power, the glory, the music

mine is the power, the glory, the music

Wow...this IS different. Took me a while to get into it but once I started feeling its flow it got a hold on me. I agree with the comments on SC....this tune is pretty psychedelicized.  8)

I was hearing some Jim Morrison in your voice on this one.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

@Rightly I like the dense syncopated sounds - disconcerting, at times a cool counterpoint to the vocal and others, for my taste, distracting.
Good clear moody vocal and, as always, interesting lyrics .
This one teeters on the dark side- I enjoyed the new musical direction!

As always, your lyrics are interesting and very personal.
I like the song because it's strange. different, authentic and to my taste describes that dialogue with yourself in a very particular way through a world of sound effects that create that atmosphere that fits this song that more than song is a journey of search through your voice.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

This is amazing, I think it is a very strange fusion and at the same time full of good taste.
It is mixed like an intellectual scream with an oniric music
Very good work  ::thumb::

For a different song I'll often slip into a different persona.

There's no way I want to present my "true" self with every song.

I'll never write dull lyrics, If I've Nothing to say I won't scrape empty phrases together.
I'm convinced there'd be crippling consequences if I did.

The song is a self-dialogue, (just not My self) I think you get that.
Not everyone gets this, they might try to look for some story or confession.
Whatever they find won't match their expectations and the "faults" will become apparent.

I'm glad you like the song and I value your feedback.

@Rightly - cool track, liking the experimental feel and odd sounds. Olly thing I would offer as advice is to lessen the stereo effects - that is instruments moving rapidly in the panning. I was listening on headphones.

Thanks for the encouragement.
Stereo effects, yes, t there are many aspects to master when working with a DAW. I think I'm making progress gradually. Damn, if I could play one instrument well that'd be half the battle.
I'm keeping an eye on myself, self restraint needs to be practiced, even in play. I hope my ears at sensitising.
I'll see if I improve at the other end of this writers block.

Hi @Rightly

Today I have listened to your song again because your music is not easy, you have to listen to it several times to be able to enter into its harmony, and that happens with everything that is personal and non-transferable.

You bring us a sea of sounds full of emotions that are shaking enveloping you and
in which your voice struggles and shouts its true and its call of anguish.

Your chaos, however, has an unexpected balance that lifts you up and makes you look at reality with the strength of your lyrics.

You are in a good moment, from what I see, the revolution always brings changes in all lives and in all dreams
