Ptakoslav's Funeral Flight
on: February 13, 2019, 23:04:05
Hi to all,
thank you for all your comments to my last song "3 Piece of Nothing".
Now back to Scyllos which is the land of birdlike people I invented for my son. The next song from Scyllos is a funeral march. But the birds don't march so it's a funeral flight...
It's a classical piece with a string quartet in the middle of everything surrounded by some other instruments. And I would like to read your reviews and thoughts about this little thing...

Yours
Martin

P.S. The name "Ptakoslav" is a joke. It's based on ancient Czech names and it is similar to being called "Birdward" (Bird + Edward) in English.

Hi @dr_Shad

It's a strange piece, maybe the rhythmic continuity  (it reminds me of a bolero) can make it a little monotonous and the drum beat, personally, surpasses me. The harmonic movement of the rest of the instruments is very beautiful, so I think that if the rhythmic base were changing from time to time, going up or down the scale, the general harmony would be enriched.
Otherwise, your music suggests images full of nostalgia.
I hope you do not bother with me for telling you this but I think this music could be even better by introducing some changes.
I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

I like the thought of making music or stories for your children @dr_Shad .
We had a song for everyday boring stuff like the Ďhow to brush your teeth songí. As itís boring but still very important..., you get the picture.

So itís a nice thought to write a song to accompany a story.  And how eventful or not eventful a song is, is largely depending of the use you make of it.
It you use the song as a backing for part of the story, there are other things that matter than if you let your son listen as an activity as such. If you get what I mean.

If itís just the song, I would agree with @Mora Amaro La Loba (not for the first time - she really smart) but if it is meant as mood making frills for a storyline, I would leave it as it it.

But the fact of you making creative things for your son will be remembered for the rest of his life. And most likely itíll spur him on to do the same for his kids.
A really heart warming thought.
Kind regards, Gus
