Something new from Lenny.  :)

Race Of Angels
https://www.soundclick.com/music/songInfo.cfm?songID=14063117

It's not easy living here
Times being what they are
All this anger and all this fear
Has got me thinking about tomorrow
While I worry about today

CHORUS
That's okay
We'll seize the day
'Cause we are a race of angels
And we'll heal the world along the way
There's a price to pay
But we'll find a way
'Cause we are a race of angels

It's not peaceful living here
Folks being who they are
The answers to their questions are not that clear
And that's got me worrying about tomorrow
While I try to change today

CHORUS

INSTRUMENTAL BRIDGE

CHORUS
In our own way
We'll seize the day
We're a race of angels
And we'll save the world
Along the way
If there's a price to pay
That's okay
'Cause it's the price of change
And we're a race of angels

Yeah
It's okay
It's our day
So let's act like a race of angels

Wonderful, and I have been trying to wait patiently.
Posted the 12th and already #4 ?
A classic case of payola? Either that or (more likely) I must give my next song more thought.
It’s not the rating i post it for, but it’s a nice thought if people care to listen to what’s posted.

This one sounds slightly fuller or maybe warmer with the backing a bit louder. Together with your new balance, your music found a new balance too.
Next one please!
Kind regards, Gus

Hi Lenny ...
I just love the "Has got me thinking about tomorrow" bit ... it opens up so nicely.
I think the delivery just works as if you have just thought of it and it spills out of you. That and the later "And that's ... bit) are my favourite parts  of of a good uplifting song.

I also like how you sound happy when you are delivering this song.  That makes me smile. :-)

@LePlongeur ......I'm glad you picked up on the slightly different style of this one, Gus. There were a lot of things I did differently here...from the rhythmic guitar to the way I mic'd up my vocals. I was particularly surprised by the way the bass track ended up pretty much leading the whole thing along. Glad you like it.  ;)

@MrBouzouki ........ you're right on about that "worried about tomorrow" line. That came out on the fly during scratch vocal recording. I really did enjoy singing this one and I was definitely looking for an upbeat feeling to both the lyrics/vocals and the entire production. Thanks for checking this one out and for your appreciation. Glad it got you smiling.

This is one of the best ideas one can have to try to change a few things. ;) :D

I just wondered if you play all instrument tracks by yourself in your songs?

Hi @Mo ....yes....I play everything myself.

The acoustic guitar is a 1933 Kalamazoo Gibson like the one in that famous picture of Robert Johnson. The electric guitars are a 1971 Gibson SG run through a Line 6 Helix. The bass is a 1969 Gibson EB3.

The keys are played on an old Kurzweil keyboard that is run through and even older rack mounted Ensoniq synth unit.

Everything goes in through a Trident channel strip with onboard EQ and compression

TMI, right?  Thanks for asking.  :) :) :)

I admit, TMI was not in my dictionary. The Music ... and that’s how far I got.
So yes, I had to look it up. And found out what I already knew. And found out that American people tend to apologize for an increasing amount of things. The Japanese of the western world.
You need to exercise ‘Wa’. harmony. Where the left half of the symbol means grain, and the right half means mouth. And then you’ll find harmony.
This too much apologies (TMA) leads to devaluation of the expression, but if you still want to do it, do it.
Maybe you’ll think of this being TMI already.

We tend to be generous with telling why and shy away about telling how we did it. It’s the way we learn, I think. By understanding how someone did record or whatever the subject may be.
I also think that it’s very clever that @Mo asks what she wants to know. There’s no quicker way to learn than to stay curious and ask questions.

And (hence the long winded intro) I would like to ask: the Kalamazoo is not quite a parlor is it. To judge the photos I have seen in the past, it’s slightly bigger? The sound maybe too??? Am I right?
What did you do to keep it in good shape?  The wood doesn’t sound too brittle/dry.
Thank you @Leonard Scaper for your music and patience to explain.
Kind regards, Gus

Hey Gus @LePlongeur .....ah yes, the Japanese of the western world. I actually spent a good part of my life working on my wa an Aikido Sensei.  :)

The Kalamazoo is pretty much a parlor size instrument. It is basically a Gibson L1 without a truss rod. I came into it late in its life and it has a lot of playing scars. The frets up around where the "cowboy chords" are played are deeply grooved and the finish where a pick guard would go is right down to the wood from someone's aggressive playing with a heavy pick.

The wood is very dry....87 year old mahogany. It is light as a feather. That gives it some seriously resonant overtones and a very characteristic voice.

Hola @Leonard Scaper

Another wonderful song with very clever lines. I like a lot
"All this anger and all this fear
Has got me thinking about tomorrow
While I worry about today"

a feeling that is becoming very extended.

Take care!!

I did not know that to live I had to die so many times

I envy you all the more for lovely music and for your patience to do al this A WA RENESS.

Genki @Leonard Scaper?

I had a teacher who asked/ordered to solve the impossible ‘one hand clapping’.
I asked him kindly if he would not be angry or would judge it disrespectful if I solved it.
He said he would not be angry.

I clapped, with one hand behind my back, his cheek with the other. And he was angry in spite of his promises.
Took me three seconds to make a WA angry and to solve the one hand clapping. And it took me two seconds to come to the conclusion that all this mystical self elusiveness was not for me.

But WA 和 is.
But my coachee had no idea why the corners of the mouth are pointing down.
Kind regards, Gus
