Rainy Day

Guess I broke another rule
Don't know what I'm getting into
Should have played some dirty pool
Don't know what I'm getting into

Hey hey rainy day how many lives did you ruin today
Hey hey rainy day how many lie did you tell today
Just say. Watch the rain. Watch it fall down on me.

Rain rain I heard the news
Ya got no choice when there's nothing to choose
Hey rain I didn't lose
Ya got no choice cause there's nothing to lose.

Chorus

Bridge:
The thunder roars. The old man snores.
It rains it pours. Can't go outdoors.

They say he paid a bill
I'm just here pretending there's free will.
Destinations to fulfill
Reaching for another blue pill.

Chorus

We get stuck between floors
Lights go out can't open the doors
Can't sail to a distant shore
Maybe rain will stop all of the wars.

Chorus

Know the future know the past
Know the first. Know  last.
And we know the die's been cast
From our first breath to our last gasp.

Chorus

It rains it pours. The old man snores. The thunder roars can't go out doors.

Guess I broke another rule
Don't know what I'm getting into
Should have played some dirty pool
Don't know what I'm getting into

Hey hey rainy day how many lives did you ruin today
Hey hey rainy day how many lie did you tell today
Just say. Watch the rain. Watch it fall down on me.

Hey hey rainy day
Hey hey rainy day
Hey hey rainy day
Hey hey rainy day

good straight forward song @CGHound  - very catchy chorus. Only tip I can offer is that the drums could have more of a human feel. There is a Travelling Wilbury feel in the song. Much liked.

Very nice production @CGHound and a good song. The balance in the mix works well.

@oorlab 's comment about the drums has merit. They sound fine to me... but a bit predictable. I kept wanting to hear a cymbal ride and different beat on the snare during the bridge... just to change the color.

The lyrics are fun and the vocals and harmonies sound great.  The echo works best at the end of the phrase when there is a clear space for it  to sound. When overlapping with the phrase it steps on the lyrics a bit.

If it so happens that you are done with this piece, no worries... it's a keeper!

Thank you for sharing... I enjoyed it.  ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Thanks for the  compliments and the insightful critique.

Definitely a solid production. I also like the straight ahead style. One thing that could help the drums is to go through and make certain that the bass is synced up nicely. If you did that manually with a bit of nudging it might establish a more natural groove.

I like @oorlab 's Wilbury connection. I'm also hearing some Sir Richard Starkey in the vocals.

This is a good song exactly as is.

The Hey! is definitely a good hook! Not totally sold on the production, the guitar is a little "tame",  the snare is a bit thin and the cymbals... well, they sound like everything but cymbals.  A catchy song with potential for production improvements.
