Remember....a song for a new year....
on: December 26, 2018, 12:44:22
As one year ends and another begins, here is a song of cautious hope.

Remember
https://www.soundclick.com/html5/v4/player.cfm?songID=13822419

INTRO
The people walk together as one
This way we are strong
Wicoti
Our home is all around us
From earth to sky
We must not let go
The Grandfathers tell us
To remember

V1
Born in the true light of dawn
As just another mystery
Children of the sun

V2
Where did we come from
And who'll write our history
Will our legends linger on

CHORUS
All's not done
We just need to remember
Face the sun
And dance
A new day comes
When we will live again as one
If we remember

INSTRUMENTAL

V3
Will our memories linger on
Or will they fade with time and distance
Will our stories live on in our songs

CHORUS

"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

Would you mind telling me about this Wicoti thing?
There’s something Wicoti in Wageningen (NL), although I don’t think that that’s what you have in mind. And you’ re not the kind of person to slip this in your text by accident.

Am I focusing too much on this?
Kind regards, Gus

interesting Indian / Native American feel  in the intro. Wicoti sounds like Coyote. I see prairies and blooming valleys with beaver dams.
Just a first reaction.
Uplifting and well mixed too.

@LePlongeur ......"wicoti" is the Lakota Sioux  word for "village" or "they all live there". I threw that in there when I was ad-libbing the intro and it felt right. That entire ad-lib made the final mix, room noise and all.

@oorlab ....yeah that Native American thing kind of evolved with this one as I was searching for direction and lyrics for what I was feeling. That intro was done quite late in the process and it really helped me focus on the vocals.

Thanks for that about the mix.

@Leonard Scaper I like the  way you set the mood with the native references ( lyrical and musical) - they have a kind of instant gravitas that your voice also carries.
The message is uplifting and grounded at the same time - cool.
The electric guitar, drums  and the whole production sounds good. ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Hey @robertkc .......I'm glad that you picked up the feel of this one. As it developed I began to worry a bit that the Native American  aspect would come across as contrived. It was when I introduced that element that the song began to take on some real meaning for me.

I read a book many years ago entitled "Hanta Yo". To this day that reading has shaped my understanding of our relationship to each other and to this world in which we live. Some of that seems to have bubbled to the surface in this song.

I wonder if, in some way, this can be seen as a kind of "world music" as @Bill from November Sound was wondering about in his thread.  ;)

The sound of the production is very good and I have to admit that I was very impressed
The song has a very good arrangement and part distribution
In short, I'll tell you a lot of congratulations for this music  ::thumb::

@Marcus Nalgaber .....I seriously appreciate those observations. You and @Mora Amaro La Loba are making some excellent recordings so your perspective hits home for me.

Your voice, as always, trapping me and unraveling a precious story that I would like it to become a reality.
I love your calm and deep music.
Good mix (there's a lot of work here).

I think these Christmas days affect us all in a very particular way. Your song has that spirit of looking in and out feeling alive and wishing for peace and union.
Very good work.

Feliz Año Nuevo

Cracking song! I love that subtle pulsating beat and the deep harmonics that make this such a pleasurable listen.

What with Christmas and constant demands of relatives, friends and loved ones it has taken me a while to get round to listening to new Kitchen songs. What a treat to start me back off. All the best for 2019 @Leonard Scaper and I hope this upcoming year will bring you as much creative success as was enjoyed for you in this outgoing year!  ::thumb::
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

Thanks for checking this one out @Dutchbeat . You're right.....this one has a few different things in it.  ;)

@Mora Amaro La Loba ........reality is what we make it, right?  ;) I'm glad you found something in this song. Thank you.

@MichaelA ........I am so glad to see you here. Let's both make lots of new music in the New Year, ok?   :)
