This is just a song I started a while ago and have been mulling over. Was stuck on the lyrics and just had the guitar riff going over in my head, but finally managed to finish it, so really looking for feedback! Thanks :)

I tell myself to keep breathing
Inhale once more exhale again
Remind my heart to keep beating
In case this time it forgets

Weíve got kids growing up on TV screens
Watching other people achieve their dreams
Watching but they don't hear a thing
Fueling old minds with hatred
Turning on the news just to fall back to sleep
Watching but they ain't listening

Times change but they donít move on
Still stuck with the same bygones
And weíre wondering why we still ainít got real change

Wars rage like fires burning on
our fears what they thrive on
Are you really wondering why things stay the same

We are the people
We are the noice
We are the voice
We are the sound
as we scream it loud

we are the people
we are alive
we are arrived
we are born, to live our revolution

What we gonna do when the world runs out of time
Are you gonna run around with a sign saying the end is nigh
What we gonna do when we finally realise
We canít just sit around mumbling in corners pointing at the other side

take a deep breath in
then breathe it out again
stop pretending that everything's alright
and get up, stand up, make the most of your time

@Alex you are stone's throw away from stardom. Glad I get to hear you before you are famous. Tone and delivery, not too mention solid guitar playing.

Seriously good song, excellent playing and soulfully delivered. That first verse is just so well written.....once you are into this song you are in until the end.

I love how you open up the guitar style a bit right at the end.

Well recorded as well....easy to listen to and very clear.

Was reminded a bit of Tracy Chapman....sorry, I know comparisons are  a bit odd. But you have a profession quality to you vocal delivery.
"The main thing is to have a gutsy approach....but use your head." Julia Child

"In a world of robotic conformity, the only originality left in music is the imperfections" Eric Craptone

"Special thanks to Steve Gleason for making me who I am today." Leonard Scaper

I agree with the Tracey Chapman comparison, as @Leonard Scaper spotted. notably her song 'Fast Car' which has a similar opening chord progression. But once you get over that there is a great pay-off for the listener as the song develops its own personality and dynamic. The narrative style and delivery keeps you listening for sure. Lots of potential here I feel, lovely vocals too, well done.
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

@cosignsessions - that is far too kind of you to say, luckily I just enjoy this as a hobby so no desperate hopes of stardom for now! I'm glad you enjoyed it though!

Thank you very much @Leonard Scaper! The first verse is definitely my favourite, the rest of the song sort of came afterwards and is a bit disconnected lyrically, but I loved the starting lyrics so much that I had to keep them and hoped it was fit! Glad you like it!

@MichaelA - I totally agree! Love Tracey Chapman and the soul to her music as well as the messages she gives, so this is definitely in line with what I was going for. Thank you very much for your kind words.

this is really strong! guitar/vocals are great, but it's the melody that grabs me. unpredictable, speeds up/slows dow, familiar yet fresh, makes it very interesting. like how it releases in the chorus both melody and guitar wise. nice work.
