Same Lyrics Challenge - Two Hearts In The Snow

I took a few liberties to make this song my own with these excellent lyrics by @MichaelA

 I already anticipated  a serous competition. And here it is.
Specially like the harmonies and the picture.
Are you really trying to eat the ficus? I’ve been told that the leaves are best in the spring.

Hi @Leonard Scaper, I had a feeling that these narrative style lyrics would suit a treatment by you, with your natural troubadour inclination. So I pretty much knew that you would deliver, and you have! Nice treat for me to hear your interpretation, for sure!

I do like the extra bit of lyric/melody you added to that first chorus to pad it out, plus add in a bit more 'hook'. The 'Two Hearts' outro is also very catchy, and its extended repetition helps seal the deal for the song to stick in the memory.

I thought you might have got that big fat eleccy guitar of yours  out from the mid break section onwards. But it is very pleasant too without your usual build, sweet and simple, naturally unplugged.

Harmonies at the end, really cool, catchy and delicious!

@MichaelA ....glad you like it. I decided early on when I first read your lyrics that mine would be a simple guitar and vocal song. I did those harmonies as an afterthought though.

Your singing Leornard is very comfortable to listen to.

I think you know that I like the sound of your voice and how you project and attenuate it according to the moment, but I do not understand all the lyrics, anyway it has seemed to me a very intimate, personal song. You say that the lyrics are by MichaelA, congratulations to both of you.

I did try to capture the feeling of @MichaelA 's lyrical story of two lovers who each decide to write their message of warm love in the freshly fallen snow and find themselves doing it together.

I suspect that others will do better as they also interpret these excellent lyrics in this Kitchen Challenge.

Cool @Leonard Scaper  ! That's really a perfect ballad. The harmonies at the end sound fine. You're secret weapon. May be they could be put in earlier too (at 1.43...).

Intimate and perfectly simple @Leonard Scaper . I like the  vocal and your harmonies, especially  on repeating lines at the end are similar to ...my own version which  is getting mixed now

Damn now I’ve started listening, I’ve been sucked into another one :-)! This is lovely @Leonard Scaper ... my favourite part is the subtle harmonies under ‘Two hearts in the snow..’ I actually think you could use more (on ‘I love you’ maybe?) but then again I guess it makes them quite special.... think I can hear the click at the end - thought it was a ticking clock on first listen :-).


One thing that caught my ear is the silence at 2.10 - although there’s a hint of a guitar ringing it sounded a little unnaturally empty to my ear (on Apple pods)... although I have a cold so it might just be my ears, which are a little congested  ...

@Zedd ....thanks SO much for that critical listen. I guess my mix engineer got a little sloppy and did not pay close attention to how the guitar rings out in the end there. I have had a stern talking to with him about that.    An automated Low Pass Filter has fixed that issue.   

I knew that silence would be a problem......it was designed in there to provide a dynamic transition into the bridge but I agree that it is a bit much.

Thanks for that about the harmonies....they were definitely an afterthought but they get me smiling when I listen back.

 

Hey @Leonard Scaper , Steve! Haha wow, that sound completely different than @LePlongeur 's song , cool to hear how many approaches there can be to write a song around the same set of lyrics.. The lyrics fit perfectly in this musical glove! Beautiful performance, sung with the always intimate warm voice. Love the harmonies as well! And of course: signature guitar work! Well done man!
