Shape of You (arrangement - suggestions please)

Not technically my song (!!) but having a go at creating an arrangement of a well known track and wanted to get some feedback (hope that's okay).

I really like Ed Sheeran's version, but when I listened to it I thought it had great potential for a more haunting/slowed-down version and so I gave it a try.

All feedback welcome (the rhythm is off in parts which is a normal weakness of mine)- thinking of writing my own second half of the song that fits with what I've got so would appreciate suggestions.

You could indeed start with a cover and turn it into your own song by changing chords, rewriting lyrics.
I'd start by writing your own lyrics and just try out something with a Sheeran vibe on your mind.
may be playing the chords the otherway around.
