Here is my entry: https://soundcloud.com/andomobot/shoreline-sunshine-1

A song about a happy but short-lived summer romance with an extremely positive person.

Shoreline Sunshine

Sleeping on the sand,
had no place to be,
I dreamt about a life
just you and me.
Staring at the sky,
mind was floating free,
All we had were possibilities.

I saw the future in your eyes,
I thought that summer feeling would never ever die,
coz it was ... 'wow'!
from the start,
as the clouds drifted apart
and shoreline sunshine filled my heart

gazing out to sea,
with your hand in mind,
good things came to those
who took their time.
We talked about the past,
how we used to be
shared our deepest secrets
sans souci

I saw the future in your eyes,
I thought that summer feeling would never ever die,
coz it was ... 'wow'!
from the start,
as the clouds drifted apart
and shoreline sunshine filled my heart

it was .. 'wow'!
from the start,
but we drifted apart,
I still feel your sunshine in my heart

Feedback very welcome.

Good luck everyone!

Dan

Ha nice, I do have a weak spot for sea sounds in intros and outtros...
The song itself sounds very good, tight drumming, Beatles-ish chorus, sunshine vibes.

An excellent entry! With that poppy and yes, Beatle-esque flavor, this one is definitely a strong entry.

I've not heard this yet @DanJames but I just wanted to say firstly - what a great set of lyrics.
It has a very genuine ring to it so the listener connects. In a way I feel sad the romance didn't last for you.
But that's the point isn't it. Writing down our feelings and experiences tinged with our imagination to a greater or lesser extent.
That what us songwriters do.

Right I'll have a listen now but I just wanted to say the lyrics got me straight away.

"Beatles" meets the "Beach Boys" -what's not to like

Loving the "Ba-ba-ba-ba's " and the "Wowwww" Like the guitar solo too - just enough
Nice use of the wave Fx to bookend the piece.

Good job and anther strong competition entry

A very strong entry indeed, @DanJames !
Not too strong of course, since it is advisable to downplay the role of the competition.

I wonder how on earth I am going to choose.
Ah well, one more day to the deadline?

La verità è come l’olio. So I wish you lots of luck with this gem.
Kind regards

Very positive entry @DanJames - a kind of retro pop treatment - as others have said - yet still with a decent helping of contemporary dash. I can see you will be a contender once again. Plus I thought the mix you are a bit down on was pretty good too!
If you like novels with a musical theme, why not try 'Sixth Beatle - When Music Changed The World', easily found on Amazon and Google. It is amazing, although as the author I may be biased!

Hi Dan,
Good One, something between The Monkees meet the Beatles .
Yes def. a good entry.

Ah, some seriously sweet guitar tones there (and tight playing)
Fab BV vocals (but I'd say they are a bit too up front in the mix), lead vox is fab as well.
Other than that the mix is well balanced.
Some really nice 60's vibes with an update sound.
A really strong contender, good luck.

Thanks so much for all your extremely positive comments. I promise to do some listening and commenting sometime over the weekend ! Dan

WOW @DanJames    no really, "WOW" ... that's the part! I love it! This is such a retro-cool modern pop sensation of a creation that it is hard to contain the excitement from listening to this. Big fan. Big fan.
