Short blues demo
on: April 15, 2021, 23:08:54
« Last Edit: April 15, 2021, 23:38:05 by oorlab »
Had a sudden urge  to do a short bluesrock riff based song. This is only 1.15 min , to test the waters.
https://soundcloud.com/oorlab/navigation-blues
any feedback appreciated.

I've been riding
All night through
But the road gets longer
and foggier too.
Headlights, taillights
Getting confused
to a third degree.
Navigation don't fail me yet,
scared by my own silhouette.

Can you tell us more about what the 'message' that came up and resonated with you 'means' @oorlab ? Sounds (to me)  like a road 'the teller' has been/is travelling/following (not sure if that was voluntarily) where he/she got lost in the end.
The style of this song brought up some pointers to Deep Purple's 'Child in time' (to me), not sure why. Does this help at all?
Nice to hear some new creations-in-progress from you @oorlab !
I'm proud of this track, check it out! https://soundcloud.com/martimedia/dreams

@Mar T.  - thanks for the listen & comment. The sudden idea I had, was to do a short live riff track, quick and dirty. Like it could happen in a live jam session with more musicians in the same room - can't wait to play with bands again.
The lyrics are a little haphazzard - loosely based, now rereading what I wrote yesterday on Radar love, and The long and winding road.
Deep Purple's Child in Time and Highway Star, sure are ingredients in my kitchen that I don't discard :-)

Hi oorlab...........I immediately got the Deep purple influence. I like the short and sweet nature of this. Could be used as an intro into something more clarifying. Has a great sound, and works well as an "ear - worm" ;-)
Good stuff!

Definitely worth developing!

Cheers @IronKnee   - I was thinking of changing the organ into piano - but then I would loose the Deep Purple vibe.

@Rachel_D  - you're welcome!

i hope to work further on this, preferably with a real drummer in a practice room

It’s just an opinion, but it’s mine.
So here goes.

According to John Forgerty
The voice must howl like a wolf
The guitar must be able to brake some windows
The drums must sound like thunder
And the sound of the bass must be aimed directly at the centre of the human being

Or words to that extend.

And I think I agree with him. Your rif and handling of the vocals show great potential, but are of a near germ free cleanness. An operating theatre kind of disinfected.
I am opposed the ‘need for suffering’ for your art.
But a little dirt will surely help.

I would do this terrific riff at between 90 to 100 bpm.
With a growling bass, aimed at the listeners....

I wish you lots of fun pulling this one off.
Your riff almost makes me wonder why I haven’t thought of doing this one.

Enjoy!
Kind regards, Gus
