Spin the bottle - Ballroom challenge
on: July 06, 2020, 09:23:27
« Last Edit: July 06, 2020, 09:28:58 by LePlongeur »
Choices, choices, choices. Sometimes it's more fun to let the Wheel or the Bottle decide.
First, who takes off his or her ballroom clothing and in what order. And ultimately, who gets who for the night?

A baroque, hyper romantic type of song. Longing. But longing for what? Wheel see?

Spin the bottle/Wheel see

Oh yes, maybe it's in the leaflet
But then again, maybe the specs
You can feel the tension rising
Something's going on, she begs

Many women are control freaks
But then again, there are also men
Feeling lost and utterly helpless
When decisions are taken from their hands

Bridge
Before we use it to perfection
It'll pour four glasses, dear
We'll drink quickly, in a hurry
We are pressed for time, I fear

Chorus
'Wheel decide', will draw some laughter
Joss is allotted to me
Spin the bottle, spin the bottle
Better than ratio, wheel see

Joss' glory's in the shower
she's got this fancy shower head
Which she won't share, share with no one
She takes the afterglow to bed

If anything she gets more restless
But then again we all know Joss
If it's lame she calls it game
When questioned why she's at a loss

Bridge
Before we use it to perfection
It'll pour four glasses, dear
We'll drink quickly, in a hurry
We are pressed for time, I fear

Chorus
'Wheel decide', will draw some laughter
Joss is allotted to me
Spin the bottle, spin the bottle
Better than ratio, wheel see

Enjoy! And for those, entering the challenge too, good luck to you and your song! And who knows what the bottle has in store for you?
Kind regards, Gus

Hola hola @LePlongeur

Your lyrics have put images in my head, images of a dance in which a bottle decides ... strange power of something inert ...

It also leaves in in suspense that wait of ... what? a glance, a gesture, a nudity that removes the masks ... A surrender to that does not arrive, ... so many interesting things in your song ...

The music ... Yes, it is a ballroom dance, with a rhythm that makes you dance in that atmosphere of diffuse colors that paint faces with glows that are not of the soul

I like your job so well done and full of baroque scenes.

Hey Gus....this is another @LePlongeur CLASSIC!!

Love the concept and the play on words of "Wheel see".

What a beautiful description @Mora Amaro La Loba . And I love it that you liked listening to it.
I secretly hope youíll give your inner ballroom artist her liberty and join too.
Why would ballroom imply that coloring between the lines is the only ballrooming permitted?
See you around!
Kind regards, Gus

Thank you for the compliments, @Leonard Scaper . As I am classic (I plead guilty), almost museum worthy, does that apply for my music too??
Anyway, it's always nice to know you listened. I like that a lot.
Hope for you to do some ballrooming too. Can't help but thinking we're the least likely people to fit in that mold.
Kind regards, Gus

That's soooo old school, classic -classic  waltz  ( meaned in a GOOD sense)  but same time, as Leonard mentioned its still 100% Gus! and thats speaks totally for you and your personally style.  Your lyrics always a pleasure to imagine them with own pics in the head LOL. Pretty good! ;D

Challenge-wise I would suggest that every contestant would need to do a video of the song while dancing the waltz with your significant other!  :D :ok:
It really would help me to do the poll later! ;D

Itís almost a French song @Mo . In France you can get away with pretty much everything as long as you mind your language.
And this is what I tried to do. Make a peppered text with calm words. And if I understand you correctly, I more or less managed to just that.

Thank you for listening and your very nice comment.
Kind regards, Gus

@LePlongeur Haha! Great humour there :) It is like a BZN song with drunken lyrics, so very well adapted to the pub-like atmosphere I think you like to depict there. Enjoyed this :)
Pleudoniem: composer; bass guitarist; guitarist; singer; drummer; tap-guitarist - o, and yes... erm- a bit of keys. Open for collabs.

No, I am not going to admit it, @Pleudoniem . This is my entry in the Ballroom contest.
Spin Demis Roussosí first solo LP and you have the blue print of all BZN music.
But thank you for your remark about the humor, because that is exactly what I think is lacking in the real Ballroom music.
Too pretentious and slick for my taste. Itís a bit rough and hyper swirling piece of music with a story of what might happen after the dance.

Spin the bottle? Spin the Dom Perignon bottle! A partouze with class.
Glad you liked it.
Kind regards, Gus

Quote
Hey Gus....this is another @LePlongeur CLASSIC!!

3/4 has brought out a nice vibe. The main riff sounds like something the Pogues would have done.

Good work Gus

The Pogues @MrBouzouki ?
Now, talking about a compliment!
Even if I fail the ballroom challenge, this makes it all worthwhile.
Thank you!

Over the years I have been to many parties that the feeling of this piece evokes -  it could almost be a Christmas song! Very enjoyable Gus - made me want to reach out for my Smiths collection... Great guitar sound - lots of personality....

Of course, I sat at the sea shore holding hands and snogged with a beautiful girl.
And thereís really nothing wrong with singing about that.
But the whole process between puberty and becoming adults and responsible is skipped. We shy away from saying whatís what.
And that, I think is a pity. There are other themes in my music too, but reckless partying is a recurring theme...

The guitar sound is from a Cort Sunset 2 with TVJones pick ups and Fender stainless steel strings for extra brightness.
Glad you like it.  @Tolo

And glad you liked my Christmas song too. Smiley. I hope I can make you enter the competition as well. I personally had to take a hurdle since challenges are not really my natural habitat, but the challenges in da kitchen are really good humored. Why not give it a try?
Thank you for your time and kind words.
Kind regards, Gus
