A song for your soul. Not "Hot Pants." Different James. :)

https://soundcloud.com/james-gilmartin-3/stand

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

When their art and scope deny you
And your silver turns to tin
When the doubting overcomes you
And all you see is sin

A subtle invitation
Can be scented
On the wind...
To:
Stand in what has never left you
Stand in what you've always been

Just stand

When your love for life betrays you
And the dark repose sets in
When your fighting fists have failed you
And you're waylaid by the din

A subtle invitation
Can be scented
On the wind...
To:
Stand in what has never left you
Stand in what you've always been

Just stand

It's not the tension on your brow
Or tightness in your chest
It's not your most exalted vow
Or hunger to be best
It's not the gnashing of your teeth
Or anger in your voice
It's not the fancy words you preach
Or even your own choice

When a thousand deaths have claimed you
And the lies tattoo your skin
When there's no one there to see you
And nothing there to win

A subtle invitation
Can be scented
On the wind...
To:
Stand in what has never left you
Stand in what you've always been

Just stand

This sounds fantastic.....played and sung in a style that allows the feeling of the song to spread out and surround the listener. The space that you have around both your vocals and that excellent guitar tone really work beautifully. Your vocal performance is packed with emotion...seriously good

I was enjoying just listening because I had already read through and digested the lyrics. I don't often do that with a song but I'm glad I did this time. These lyrics work well as both poetry and song and the depth of feeling comes across both ways.

Glad to see you here, James.

Wonderful song! Wonderful voice, wonderful lyrics and important message for the soul of oneself.
The poetry that emanates from your song is elegant and delicate but does not stop portraying the truth with the best words.
You have moved me but you have also reaffirmed me. Thank you
Self is the only truth of oneself, everything else is thoughts.
What a beautiful song! ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb:: ::thumb::

Mora,

Your feedback is a gift.  You have the eyes to see and the ears to hear the Spirit I was trying to convey in this song.  It is the Strength that lives in all of us and in all things.  I agree 100% with your statement: "Self is the only Truth of oneself, everything else is thoughts."  Thank you very much.

A lady on SoundCloud said: luminous and empowering work.
If I mesh that with what mora said, you’ve an idea of what I think if it.
And as a non native speaker, I am really glad you posted the text.
I think it’s an awesome piece of work, @nicetalkintoya , glad you were talking to me. Thanks!
Who needs hot pants?
Kind regards, Gus

This is brilliant. I loved the vocals, finger-picking, and song structure. Re-posted on Soundcloud!

Hey @nicetalkintoya  great to see you posting again and lovely to hear a new song from you. Lyrics are stand out for me - I really love them. I am partial to a bit of darkness.

Beautifully realised too - your guitar work as always is just lovely and vocals full of emotions and are richly warm.

And that chorus is just gorgeous!! I absolutely love this!!

Excellent work @nicetalkintoya  …. thanks for coming back to the kitchen and posting this!
The lyrics are powerful and deep. The melodic performance adds so much to the song's meaning.
Mostly you have a SOUND  -  there's much to be said for that.
Good Show!

This music sounds very different
The guitars have magic and depth
The voices sound between country and lisergic and that is a language I know very well.
Very good work  ::thumb::

@Marcus Nalgaber  Thanks for giving this a listen and your feedback!  I don't know what "lisergic" means, but I'm hoping good things! ;)
